Highlights 2013 Dairy Show

Dairy Show – a three day event was organized in Hyderabad from

13-15 July at Hyderabad International Trade Expositions Ltd. The

event was organized jointly by Active Expositions and HITEX in

association with Government of AP. The event was also supported

by NABARD, SERP, Progressive Dairy Farmers Association (AP), The

event witness an overwhelming response with over 40,000 visitors

turning out to see the tradeshow interact with exhibitors. Over 300

enthusiastic dairy farmers and aspiring dairy entrepreneurs

attended the concurrent seminars on the first two days of the event.

Over 50 animals falling into over 12 indigenous and exotic breeds

were also displayed during the event.

I congratulate organizers of Dairy Show for

the tremendous success of the first edition.

Department of Animal Husbandry, Govt of

AP has extended its support to the first

edition of the event and will continue to

support the second edition.

We are keen to encourage such knowledge

initiatives in the state for the benefits of dairy farmers and dairy

entrepreneurs. The state of Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the

fastest growing dairy zone in India. Its time for all stakeholders in

the sector to engage in dialogues and formulate proactive

measures for harnessing competence in this sector. I welcome

dairy farmers and entrepreneurs from Indian and abroad to come

and explore opportunities in the dairy sector in Andhra Pradesh.

On every count the response to the event

was unprecedented. It makes me immensely happy note that all

stakeholders in the sector rallied under one umbrella and worked

meticulously to make the event a memorable one. Department of

Animal Husbandry has been working very closely with the

organizers since inception of the program as we are keen to

encourage such knowledge based initiatives which can educate

dairy farmers and budding dairy entrepreneurs so as to make their

dairy initiatives successful.

I wish all success to the organizers in all their future endeavors.

Ÿ World largest milk producing nation expected to be 190 million

by 2015

Ÿ Contributes about 15% to the total milk production of the world

Ÿ 15 years long National Dairy Plan with out lay of

17, 300 cr

Ÿ Indian dairy industry stands at a mammoth size of

US $ 70 billion

Ÿ Gross output of 103million tons of milk in 2009.(Growing 5% per

annum)

Ÿ More than 10 million dairy farmers

Ÿ AP stands as second in the country in milk production

Ÿ Plans to set up over 900 mini diaries with focus on supply chain

Ÿ Over 723 cr investments proposed in bulk milk cooling units

Ÿ 965 Cr Fodder development scheme planned in the state

Ÿ The per-capita milk availability of milk has grown 105 gram in

1970 to 343 grams

Ÿ The current milk production is at 11.25 million tones and the

targeted reach 15 million tones by 2020

Ÿ Over 35 private sector players in the state – making it’s the

largest private sector dairy market in the country

Ÿ Among 14 major Dairying states ( Cow Belt) for implementation

of NDDB’s NDP rollout

Ÿ AP Proposal for a 6000 cr State Milk Mission – mission to

increase the overall milk production to 496.31 LLPD ( 67%

increase) and per capita milk production of 426 grams (58%

increase)
