He has been identified as Om Prakash Thakur son of Baldev Thakur, a resident of Jharkhand, presently putting up at Belicharana. At the time of his arrest, police recovered 50 pouches of liquor from his possession. Arrest was made by a police party headed by Sub Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, Incharge Belicharana Police Post. A case has been regis- tered against the accused. Addressing a press confer- ence here, Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) chairman Mohammad Yasin castigated VHP over economic blockade threat to valley. Khan asked the ruling PDP, which is in alliance with Bhartiya Janata Party in state, to clear its position over the matter. Appealing the trade com- munity of Jammu not to fall prey to elements like VHP, he said: "Our counter-parts in Jammu need to uphold the brotherhood and they should publicly distance themselves from these kinds of elements and threatening statements." Two succumb to burn injuries Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 19: Two women today succumbed to their burn injuries here at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu. According to a police spokesperson, the deceased have been identified as Sunita Devi (45) wife of Balwan Singh, a resident of Kalakote and Geeta Devi (45) wife of Bodh Raj, a resident of Dablehar in RS Pura. He said that Sunita Devi was shifted to GMCH Jammu on September 23 after she alleged- ly set self on fire at her resi- dence in Kalakote while Geeta was undergoing treatment here at GMCH after she was burnt in a mysterious fire at her resi- dence in Dabed area of RS Pura. The spokesman said that the bodies of both the deceased have been handed over to their legal heirs for last rites after conducting postmortem. The func- tion culminated with Bhajan Sandiya. A large number of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu and outside the State par- ticipated in the annual function which every year is held during the Ganesh Utsav since the con- struction of a grand temple here by the Trust after the mass exo- dus of Pandits from Valley. The Temple is the replica of Sidhi Vinayak Shrine of Hanand Chawalgam in South Kashmir district of Kulgam said Prof O N Kaul general secretary of the Trust in his welcome address to the gathering. He said a grand temple was constructed by the Trust with the support of all Biradri members and philanthropists on the pat- tern of south Indian Architecture. He said a Gouri Bhawan is under construction in the temple com- plex at present consisting of two halls of 4000 sq feet. The accused were identified as Mohinder Singh of Thakrakote Arnas, Satpal of Thakrakote and Rashpaul of Gaadi Arnas, who were work- ing as Ponywallas on the track from Banganga to Bhawan. Stake money of Rs 5300 along withy playing cards were also recovered from their posses- sion. The accused have been booked under 13 Gambling Act. Body recovered from reservoir of Baglihar Dam Excelsior Correspondent RAMBAN, Sept 19: Body of an unidentified female was recovered from the reservoir of Baglihar Dam at Chanderkote. As per police sources, body of a young lady was recovered from the reservoir of Baglihar Dam at Chanderkote. After getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to mortuary of District Hospital Ramban for identification. A case in this regard has also been registered at Chanderkote police station and investigation started. Majid Khan warns against retiring employees after 33 years service Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 19: Abdul Majid Khan, president of All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation, has expressed his serious concern over the State Government's purported move to retire employees after 33 years of service or 60 years of age, whichever is earlier. In a statement, he called upon the Government to desist from doing and warned that the Federation would resist any such move. Mr Khan demanded reduc- tion in qualifying service to 20 years in view of raise in the upper age limit for recruitment to enable the employees to earn full pensionery benefits. He also demanded enhanced monthly Medical Allowance to the employees and pension- ers. of an unidentified female wasrecovered from the reservoir ofBaglihar Dam at Chanderkote.

As per police sources, bodyof a young lady was recoveredfrom the reservoir of BagliharDam at Chanderkote.

After getting information,police rushed to the spot andshifted the body to mortuary ofDistrict Hospital Ramban foridentification.

A case in this regard has alsobeen registered at Chanderkotepolice station and investigationstarted.

Majid Khan warns against retiring employees
