July 26– August 1, 2008 Welcome to our 9th Annual Family Encampment at Historic Camp Richardson, in South Lake Tahoe, California DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE Have you noticed - - - we are closer to eternity than ever before? My consciousness of a bright and joy-filled forever with God and the redeemed is increasing each day. The journey, so sweet with refreshing fellowship is far beyond my ability to express adequate gratitude for it all. At Tahoe we pause on our pathway to the city of God, holding hands and hearts, as we sing, pray and praise. The highlight of our year is the magnificent week spent together studying and growing at the feet of our Master. I can not imagine life devoid of this thrill. Our theme: “Things That Cannot Be Shaken”, comes amid pressing problems and loss of appre- ciation for what is right in the sight of God. We need to hear and heed from God Himself the solemn admonition; ‘Be still and know I AM GOD!!!” Each lesson is designed to draw us closer to His Holy will. We ask that you seriously examine the scriptures with the continuing resolve to do everything as He directs. It is impossible to express thanks to each one who sacrifices to make the encampment possible. It is the joint-effort of so many. Thank you! Again this year my precious Pat has invested more hours than anyone, touching all the bases to make the details gel. We’d be lost without her! Let us again lovingly work together preferring each other. The week will be memorable and our young people will never forget seeing Christianity beautifully displayed in each one present. We love you! You are special! Lake Tahoe Family Encampment Paul L. Methvin, Director Daily Schedule AUDIO TAPES AND CD’S Tapes and CD’s will be made available for the keynote lessons, plus all the classes. Tracy Santee has great experience and excel- lent equipment to produce quality audio recordings. All CD’s are guaranteed for high quality. Sales will be under the Book Store Tent and can also be purchased through Springhouse Media at www.springhousemedia.com or by calling 610-207-8677 FIRST AID STATION A first aid station will be set up near the main big-top tent in Eagle’s Nest Campground to serve minor medical needs during scheduled worship services. Should you face a major medical emergency at any time, call 911 immediately or have yourself transport to the nearest medical care facility. Burton Hospital is located approximately three miles from Camp Richardson. The Hospital phone number is 530-542-3100. “PRAISE FOR THE LORD”, SONG BOOKS "Praise for the Lord" was first published in 1992, and is already the market leader within the brotherhood. It's balanced combination of classic hymns, gospel, and contemporary praise songs has given our hymnal broad acceptance. In addition to this song book, we are offering "Gift of Praise", a new, supplemental, song book for $4.00, in any quantity. At the conclusion of the Encampment, both hymnals which have been used during the week will be available for sale at the discounted price of $8.00, in any quantity, (for "Praise For the Lord") and $4.00 (for "Gift of Praise" supplement) See John Wiegand at camp, or call our toll-free phone number, 800-331-5991 for details and order- ing. Place your orders early in the week. BOOK STORE Moyer's Bookstore will be providing our bookstore this year. Moyer's Bookstore has been serving the Church for over 25 years with Bible, communion supplies, curricu- lum, christian books, tapes and a cappella music. Visit the store during camp or con- tact them at: 800-632-6657 or visit them on their website at: www.moyersbookstore.com MONEY MATTERS! Throughout all past years, you have generously covered the expenses of our encampments. We are most grateful to you. This year we are all impacted adversely by rising prices, especially fuel. We each have carefully planned finances to be able to cover our personal expenses. Still it will be increasingly difficult to give to adequate- ly defray the costs of TFE in 2008. We have care- fully held spending to only necessities. No one is paid; as needed speakers receive housing and/ or travel costs. Some of our preachers and teach- ers have graciously agreed to cover their own expenses; and we are so grateful to them. As difficult as it is, we encourage each one to give as much as possible that our bills will be paid. Among the expenses is $4000 rent to Seventh Day Adventists for use of all fourteen tents and 1400 chairs. Plus approximately $10,000 to Camp Richardson for Eagle's Nest spaces required for these tents throughout our stay. These are unalterable, non negotiable costs. Fuel for trucks moving TFE trailers of equip- ment and supplies will likewise be increased this year. If perchance you might make a larger gift or "adopt" a speaker's costs, maybe in memory of a loved one, this would be a blessing for all. Checks (tax-deductible) may be made to Tahoe Family Encampment. Thank you --- Thank You!! Paul L. Methvin, Director Keith Crummer, Jim Gardner, Wayne Smith & Kerry Williams, Assistant Directors TFE IS UNDER THE OVERSIGHT OF VALLEJO CHURCH OF CHRIST TFE PROGRAM 2008 This year we are all adversely impacted by increased costs for every- thing. We each have calculated our travel and accommodations costs with sacrifices being made to cover essentials. No one is paid for any participation at Tahoe. As needed we aid our speakers by providing housing and sometimes assistance with travel costs. We wish we could do more. We have cut TFE's costs everyway possible. Some expenses are non-adjustable. We know it is difficult but, we hope you will give generously to pay our bills. Your individual gifts are SO IMPORTANT! We love you!! CAMP DATE FOR TFE 2009 July 25 - July 31, 2009 REGISTER NOW! This class will contrast the things in this world, which CAN BE SHAKEN, with those things that cannot be shaken. Science can be shaken, but Christ and His creation cannot be shaken. The Good Shepherd versus the hired hand - - - shak-able versus unshakable. Good council of Jesus versus the bad council of friends.

ole’-Time Tent RevivalSince the restoration movement of the 1800's, some of the greatest soul-winning events took place under the “Big-Top” of ole’-time Gospel “tent revivals”. In those days often whole communities and settlements came to sing, pray and study God’s Word. We are fortunate to have a total of twelve tents to accommodate both keynote and class activi-ties. Lets relive the days of yesteryear when the ole’-time revivals drew us closer to His Word and teachings. What an experience for our children and grandchildren.

Let your light so shine before men that they might see your good works and glorify your Father, who is in Heaven. Matthew 5:16
