Highlights: Loads on Wheels System volumes continue to trend some 2% lower than last week at 10,824 cars per day. The decline thus far this week reflects a 7% decline in CN volumes while CP volumes are up 6%. Volumes declined slightly yesterday on a system basis reflecting lower volumes on CN across all corridors other than the USA/Mexico corridor. CP volumes increased reflecting lower volumes in the Vancouver corridor offset by higher volumes in all other corridors most notably Thunder Bay. Cars Not Moving The count of loaded cars not moving for 2+ days increased 14% yesterday on a system basis reflecting significantly higher counts for CN while CP counts improved. Port Unloads West coast unloads (1,027) remained above the 1,000 car threshold for the second straight day. Prince Rupert unloads remained below the 200 car benchmark for the third straight day. Loads on Wheels

• Loads on wheels contnue to trend lower than last week currently averaging less than 11,000 cars per day.  • The net decline thus far this week reflects lower traffic volumes on CN offset by marginally higher volumes on CP.

Loads Not Moving 48+ Hours• The count of loads not moving for 48+ hours rose notably for CN reflecting higher counts across all corridors other than E. Canada with the most significant increase seen in the Vancouver

corridor. • The deterioration for CN (+ 519 cars) reflects principally an increase in the Vancouver corridor (+406 cars) with system counts now above 1,700 cars - 50% of which are destined to Vancouver.

Prince Rupert counts now above 500 cars. • The improvement in CP counts yesterday (- 179 cars) reflects lower counts across all corridors - most notably Vancouver.

Network Breakdown

• Average system counts on a daily basis have remain below last week's levels at just under 2,700 cars per day reflecting improvement week to date for both railways. • The percentage of loads on wheels not moving is in line with last week - this metric can be volatile on a daily basis and as such a better guage of system performance is the weekly trend.

Port Performance

• Unload performance at both west coast ports was largely unchanged from the prior day with Vancouver unloads slightly higher and Prince Rupert slightly lower.• Prince Rupert unloads fell short of the 200 car benchmark for the third consecutive day. • Thunder Bay unloads were less than 300 cars for the second straight day and continue to track 11% behind last week's pace consistent with the steady decline in average daily loads on wheels

seen over the last five weeks. During this time period average daily traffic levels have fallen from more than 2,600 cars per day to this week's level of only 1,000 cars per day. This is also consistent with the decline in shipper orders for Thunder Bay in recent weeks which fell below 1,500 cars last week. Confirmed shipper orders for weeks 4 (2,200) and 5 (2,500) indicate demand levels are beginning to ramp up once again.

• Week 4 and 5 shipper demand for hopper cars on a system basis shows a general increase across all corridors which would suggest port unloads should begin to increase this week and next - assuming the timely placement of empty cars for loading and movement to destination.

Glossary

Loads on Wheels Count of loaded rail cars including all rail cars that have been released loaded at origin and have not been reported by the railway as unloaded at destination. Counts include all rail cars (hopper cars and boxcars) moving within a corridor.

Loads Not Moving Loaded rail cars for which the railways have not reported a movement event for 48 hours or more whether the rail car is at origin, enroute or at destination.

Cars Unloaded Count of rail cars reported by railways as unloaded at the western port destinations of Vancouver, Prince Rupert, and Thunder Bay. Unload counts include all rail cars (hopper cars and boxcars) unloaded by all receivers including major port terminals, transloaders and other receivers.

Cars Arrived at Destination The number of railcars that have arrived at the destination railway yard in the prior 24 hours.

Cars Placed for Unloading The count of railcars reported as placed for unloading at a receiving facility in the prior 24 hours.

Cars Exiting Corridor The number of loaded railcars that have left a given corridor from the prior reporting day whether as a result of the car being unloaded or delivered to another railway via interchange.

New Cars Online The number of new cars entering a specific corridor resulting from new traffic being released at origin or being received in interchange from another railway.

Cars on Hand The number of railcars on hand at the destination railway yard that have not yet been placed at a receiver facility for unloading
