Daily Log: Pascual, John Casimir T.

January 20, 2011

On the first day on the site we are introduced to the staff., we were required to attend

a safety orientation on the safety department. Sir Floyd, the safety officer oriented usabout the safety rules and procedures. We were required to have our own personal

protection equipment. After the orientation, we were turned over to Engr. Cid

Dimagiba, the project superintendent of tower C.

This day we were assigned and taught on stirrup estimate and basic excel

programming

January 24, 2011

This is the very first time we went outside of the office to go to the field. Engr. Cid

showed us a briefing about the whole site

January 25, 2011

This day we were taught how to compute for the elevation of the basement. We went

to tower B where we observe that is being done in the that tower

During this day we computed for the elevation but on the 2 nd floor of the building.

This is the first time I learned of the word soffit.

January 28, 2011

During this day this is the first time we computed for the volume of the concrete for

the concrete pouring that will occur on the evening.

January 31, 2011

We inspected the dried concrete that was poured yesterday evening. We took picturesfor the files. I observe that concrete pouring can last a whole night and more

February 01, 2011

We were introduced by one of the PS Sir Pat and to Engr. Frank the concrete engineer

in the Jazz Residence. He explained to us a brief discussion about concrete pouring

from the types of concrete strength to the concrete being self compacting

February 04, 2011

We gathered some important files for our fortnightly report. We interviewed various

engineers on the site for information to be included in our report.

February 07, 2011

We met Engr. Denise, the QS/QA in the project site. He explained to us how the

inspection process works for the rebar per floor.

February 08, 2011

During this meeting we took some photos for the report and gather some files. Then

we interview Engr. Floyd about the safety precaution made by the site

February 11, 2011

During this meeting Engr. Pat taught us about how to create a cutting list for the rebar

in the column and how to compute the number of rebar to be use. He also explain

splicing of the rebar, why is it right to splice in this part of the column and also how

to use the cutting list.

February 14, 2011

During this time we went outside to visit the excavated portion of the site. We also

visited the foundation of Tower B and its progress

Engr. Russel showed us the different foundation used in the site as well us contribute

some information about the site as well as his experience as being an engineer

February 08, 2011

Engr. Mark told us to go up to his tower to see the MAC(formwork use in the shear

wall to move fast in the construction) system of formworks. He show and explain howto jack up a tower crane on the building. He shows us the mac system and how it

works.

February 21, 2011

During this day we gather some data and interview the consultant of the

company(PMCI). Were head personally explain to us about the cash flow and s-curve

of the project.

February 22, 2011

During this day we were assigned to estimate the volume of concrete to be poured on

the site tonight. We were asked to go and measure the columns, beams, slab and shearwalls. Then we compute their volumes.

February 25, 2011

During this day Engr. Cid instructed us to go to the concrete pouring that was still in

process due to some technical problem with the supplier. We interviewed Engr. Frank

about the equipments use in the site. They have a leveling device for the concrete.

February 28, 2011

During this day we were taught of the importance of proper utilization of materials.Proper delivery and utilizing of the material will cause a positive effect in the

construction and avoid delay of the project.

March 01, 2011

I interviewed the QS/QA engineer about my report about Variation order and Time

extension and Quality Control

March 04, 2011

This was the last day of my practicum; We gathered documents for the completion of

our 4th fortnightly report. Before we leave the site, I notify Engr. Cid for a certificate

of completion who gave us the certificate at a later date (March 12, 2011).
