NEW DELHI, Dec 24:Leading telecom operators

like Airtel and Idea have askedregulator Trai not to auction thepremium 700 Mhz band untilenough devices are available forservices that are to be providedthrough it.

Mukesh Ambani-ledReliance Jio, which is yet tolaunch its 4G services, has also

suggested two-year evaluationof the ecosystem beforeradiowaves in this band are auc-tioned.

"It will be prudent to notauction the spectrum in 700Mhz band now. A recommendedapproach would be to do anecosystem evaluation in twoyears' time and plan the auctionsaccordingly," Reliance Jio

Infocomm said in reply to Trai'sconsultation paper on value ofspectrum for the next round ofspectrum auction. As per a paperof the Telecom RegulatoryAuthority of India, the cost ofdelivering mobile services in700 Mhz band is approximately70 per cent cheaper than 2100Mhz band. (PTI)

NEW DELHI, Dec 24:Country's largest lender

State Bank of India (SBI) todaysaid it has raised Rs 4,000 croreby issuing tier-II bonds on pri-vate placement basis under theBasel-III norms.

"The bank on December 23,2015 issued 40,000 Basel-IIIcompliant tier-ll bonds in thenature of debentures of facevalue of Rs 10,00,000 each atpar with 10-year tenure, bearing8.33 per cent per annum coupon

and with call option after 5years, aggregating to Rs 4,000crore on private placementbasis," SBI said in a filing to theBSE. However, State Bank ofIndia did not elaborate on theusage of proceeds. (PTI)
