Introduction

VRV control logic differs from traditional HVAC systems and may seem challenging for an integrator that is not familiar with the system. Daikin endeavors to resolve this issue by providing BMS Plugins to the integrator for easy integration. BMS Plugins are pre-programmed objects and graphics built for Niagara AX® specifically for Daikin VRV. By using the BMS Plugins, the integrators work load could be reduced to as little as point linking.

iTM with BACnet Client Option [Available]

iTM with BACnet server Option [Available July 2016 Est.]

A Client is a device that requests service from a ServerClient function is like a BMS. A BACnet device that can poll other devices (Server) for information or send commands. Two clients cannot communicate with each other i.e. A BMS will not be able to communicate with the BACnet Client function of the iTM. Server function is any device that responds to polls or accepts commands from a Client (BMS). A BMS can communicate with the server.

Sample Station

What is a Station?

In simple terms, It is an image that consists of the Niagara components, configurations, programming and graphics required for a Niagara framework based building management system to operate in a building

Daikin Sample Station is a pre-programmed station (program) for Niagara Ax BMS. It is programmed to control up to 64 indoor units.

There are two sample stations to choose from: It is designed to work with any remote controller

(Nav/Simplified) iTM or ITC is not required. Modifiable to control both Heat Recovery

and Heat Pump system. (Default is Heat Recovery) Refer to sequence of operation before using the sample station

When using station the following functions are controlled by the BMS i.e. Auto Changeover, Setpoint Range Limitation, Schedules, Setback and Afterhours override

Daikin VRV Palette

Daikin VRV Palette

Pre-programmed function blocks that perform specific functions such as auto changeover, setback, afterhours override etc.

These function blocks can be used in the programming of the BMS to control VRV.

Currently there are 8 blocks, more blocks will be added based on requirements and feedback.

What is a Palette? It is a collection of function blocks / routines (Pieces of Programming)

PX Files

The plugins provides two templates: Dual and Single Setpoints

What is a PX File? It is XML based file that contains text and graphics information for the BMS.

FAQ’s

Can the Plugins be modified by an integrator?

Yes, the plugins can be modified by the integrator in field to meet the project requirement

Can the VRV connect directly to a Niagara based BMS?

No, the VRV does not connect directly to a Niagara, A Daikin BMS gateway is still required to connect the VRV to a Niagara based BMS.

Can the Graphics/PX file created for the plugins be used with iTM BACnet or any other BMS?

The PX files are only compatible for the Niagara Ax BMS and is compatible with other BMS products.

The graphics templates for the iTM are available in the form of JPG files and can be downloaded from Daikin City.

Does the plugin Auto – Update?

No, the plugins will not update by itself, A new version has to be downloaded.
