Wednesday night Adult Bible Study will take a
different direction for a little while. We will plan to watch a short video each week by Reverend
Jonathan Fisk, an LCMS pastor currently serving as senior pastor of St. Paul Lutheran
Church in Rockford, Illinois. Following the video, we will discuss the topic of his video. You may agree with Rev. Fisk’s take on a subject, or you
may disagree, or a little bit of both, but it’s always interesting to discuss different ways of
looking at spiritual topics. You are invited to join in as your schedule allows on Wednesdays at
6:30 p.m. in the Bethlehem Library. We hope to see you! Please feel free to contact Nancy if
you have any questions or concerns.

“A congregation is a community of baptized persons whose existence depends on the proclamation of the Gospel and the administration of the sacraments and whose purpose is to worship God, to nurture its members, and to reach out in witness and service to the world. To this end it assembles regularly for worship and nurture, organizes and carries out ministry to its people and neighborhood, and cooperates with and supports the wider church to strive for the fulfillment of God’s mission in the world.” Constitution of the ELCA
Who knows what the future will bring? One thing for certain is that it will bring change. See how things have changed from 50 years ago! As congregations, facing the future can be a bit frightening. But it can also be a time for commitment and creativity. One of the things that we can be proud of is that every one of our Prairie Faith congregations had volunteers who stepped up, were trained as worship leaders and were authorized by the Bishop to preside at communion. This means that when Pastoral staff is not available, they are authorized to step in and lead worship in their respective congregations. Most importantly it means that each week every congregation can be assured of well led and meaningful worship. We will continue to move forward into our future knowing that no matter what comes, we will have word and sacrament ministry to feed us and strengthen us. We can and will move forward doing the ministry to which God has called us. We certainly want to recognize these people and I hope will pray for, and support their ministry with us. Pastor’s Page (Continued from page 3) Along with these people, we are proud of one of our own, Kim Frederking. She was a Parish Ministry Asso-ciate on our staff for several years. Kim has complet-ed the TEEM ministry program at Wartburg Seminary and is certified for call as a Pastor in the ELCA. Prai-rie Faith Council is issuing a call to Kim to serve as Pastor on our staff at ¾ time. This is a big step in continuing our desire to provide Pastoral leadership for all of the Prairie Faith congregations. Congratula-tions to Kim and God’s blessing on your newest form of serving! And thanks to our Parish Nurse, Nancy Bollig who has stepped up during Pastor Jon’s recovery. Nancy is doing hospital calls on behalf our staff. Expect to see her smiling face. Thanks Nancy! Last, but certainly not least, we are also looking for-ward to Pastor Jon’s speedy recovery! I look forward to 2020 as we look to an ever-changing future, in the hands of a never changing God. We will move forward together in Christ. God is good and provides for our needs while calling us into Gods future.
