1 MetallicThe metallised effect in metallic foils is created by thevacuum metallisation of aluminium. The colour is addedto the lacquer where specific dyes are used to achieveits metallic colour. Metallic foils have a mirror-like appearance.

2 SatinSatin foils are created in the same way as metallic foils. However, within the lacquer, there are dyes to refract lesslight so that it does not have the mirror-like appearanceof metallic foils.

3 SheenSheen foils are created in the same way as satin foils butsheen foils have a more matt and luxurious powdery finish compared to satins. Sheen foils are manufacturedon a matt polyester carrier.

1 Gloss PigmentGloss pigment foils are solid colours produced by addingand mixing various coloured ink pigments. The glosslevel is obtained by incorporating a clear gloss lacquerlayer over the coloured pigment layer.

2 Fluorescent Fluorescent foils are produced in the same way as glosspigments but a fluorescent pigment is used to create abright gloss finish.

3 Matt PigmentMatt pigment foils are produced in the same way asgloss pigments but without the addition of a lacquercoating.

4 Gloss TransparentGloss transparent foils are created using an ultra-clearlacquer with high brilliance to replicate spot UV or toadd gloss highlights (areas) when used in conjunctionwith coloured inks or substrates.

5 Matt TransparentMatt transparent foils are created in the same way asgloss transparent but a small amount of matt agent isadded to reduce the gloss level. Matt transparent foilsare transparent with a matt finish.

6 PearlescentPearlescent foils are semi-translucent with a pearlisedfinish. The foil contains pearlescent material to give thepearlescent effect and a tint is added to the pearlescenteffect to give colours. Please note foiling with pearl foilswill change the appearance of the transferred foil, depending on the darkness of the substrate beneath it.

1 HolographicHolographic foils are made in the same way as metallicfoils but include an embossed pattern that diffracts thelight and shows the colours of the spectrum at differentangles. There are many patterns and colours within theHolographic range. Bespoke patterns can also bemanufactured.

2 Metal EffectMetal effect foils are made in a similar way to holographicfoils however, within the lacquer there are dyes to preventthe refraction of light, giving a metallic pattern.

3 Transparent Holographic Transparent holographic foils are made in a similar wayto metallic holographic foils but the metallised layer isreplaced by an HRI (High Refractive Index) coating toenhance the holographic effect. Transparent holographicfoils are similar to gloss transparent in appearance butthey also have a holographic effect.

4 Security / HologramSecurity holograms are generally bespoke images com-bined with a registration mark for accurate foil placement.Additional features can be built into the hologram forgreater security such as micro text and hidden imagery.Security holograms can also be produced as a repeatedpattern across the width of the foil, therefore not requiringa registration device.

5 Brushed FoilBrushed foils are created in a similar way to metallic foils. The effect is produced using a brushed polyester carrierto give a brushed metal appearance.

6 Pattern FoilsThese foils are made with several different colours tocreate a pattern such as woodgrain, marble or multi-coloured effects.
