The Design D4 is anexcellent control valve for high-pressure separators, scrubbers, and other processing equipment. Thesevalves are especially useful for either throttling oron/off control of liquids or gases which are gritty, sticky, or which have a tendency to build up oninternal valve parts.

If the control valve requires maintenance, the trimand packing can be maintained by removing thepatented deep-bore hammer nut and lifting theactuator/bonnet assembly off the valve withoutdisassembling the actuator.

Features

Safer Bonnet / Valve Body Connection—Unique design provides additional protection ifdisassembly of bonnet/valve body connection isinadvertently started while there is still pressure inthe valve body. Pins mounted in the valve bonnethelp ensure the bonnet disengages from the valvebody as the hammer nut is removed, while thethreads are still engaged.

Heavy-Duty Guiding—Massive guiding(figures 2 and 3) positively aligns the valve plug inthe seat ring for reliable service. The screwed-inseat ring completely encloses the seat ring gasket.

Live-loaded Packing System—The packingsystem provides an improved stem seal to helpprevent the loss of valuable or hazardous processfluids or gases. It features Fisher ENVIRO-SEALpacking technology to provide reduced packingmaintenance.

NACE Constructions—NACE compatible trimis available with the Design D4 control valve. Theseconstructions meet the metallurgical requirements ofNACE MR0175 / ISO 15156.

Low Temperature Materials—Valveconstruction materials allow use in applications aslow as –46°C (–50°F).

Quick-Change Valve Plug—Removablegroove pin allows quick, easy valve plugreplacement.

Features (continued)

Severe Service Capability with TungstenCarbide Trim—D4 valves are available withtungsten carbide trim for erosive service. This trim isdesigned specifically for severe service applicationsin the oil and gas industry. Durable tungsten carbidetrim may benefit your application by wearing betterand lasting longer.

Easy Installation—Compact design allowsinstallation where space is a premium. Screwedvalve bodies feature compact face-to-facedimensions while flanged valve bodies conform toISA-75 standards for maximum versatility.

Easy Maintenance—Hammer nut bonnet/bodyjoint allows repair or maintenance with a minimum oftools, without removing the valve body from thepiping system. Seat ring can be removed with thesame service tools used with a Fisher Design Dvalve.

Integral Bonnet Flange— Bonnet has anintegral flange that accepts hammer nut force whenmaking the bonnet-to-body connection. There are nosnap rings subject to possible failure in sour serviceor in atmospheric corrosion.

Standard Trim for Throttling or On-OffService— Micro-Form trim is standard for throttlingor on-off service at no extra cost.

Application Flexibility—Choices of portdiameters up to 31.8 mm (1.25 inches), endconnections, and trim materials suit these valves tomany applications, including sour service.

InstallationDesign D4 control valves may be installed in anyposition, but normally the actuator is vertical andabove the valve. Install the control valve so the flowdirection arrow on the side of the valve bodyindicates the direction of the process flow.

Dimensions are shown in tables 9 and 10 and figures 4 and 5.
