Compressible print-adapters

• Compressible adapters enable a reduction of weight, costs and change-over time on the press

Cyrel ® round – Press Adapters

costs and change-over time on the press

• Inner/outer diameters, airholes, notches etc. are equivalent to the hard bridge-adapters

• They have a compressible top-layer. The functionality can be compared to a compressible tape, but they can be used for many print-runs

• The compressible adapter is a MUST for printing with Cyrel® round Thin

• The print-characteristic can be adjusted to the • The print-characteristic can be adjusted to the press with different foam-hardnesses (e.g. soft, medium and firm)

Hard bridge-adapters

• Adapters enable a reduction of weight and cost vs. steel-cylinders

Cyrel ® round – Press Adapters

vs. steel-cylinders

• In most cases hard adapters are just used for imaging blanks on the CDI

• The inner diameter matches the outer diameter of the CDI‘s steel-/carbon-mandrel, the outer diameter corresponds to the inner diameter of the sleeve

• The adapter has got airholes on the edge (usualy 4 to 8 depending on repeat) guiding the air from the airholes of the cylinder to the surface of the adapter

• It should have additional airholes on the face depending on lenght and repeat• It should have additional airholes on the face depending on lenght and repeat

• The adapter should have a interlock to lock the adapter on the mandrel‘s register-pin, otherwise the adapter could slip when mounting the printform

• In case of simple designs and good press-conditions the hard bridge adapter can be used as a print adapter in combination with Cyrel® round Classic

Cyrel ® round - Handling Recommendations

When setting the sleeve start with the upper edge o f the adapter/air cylinder, not the lower edge

Cyrel ® round - Handling Recommendations

Apply only light pressure when setting the sleeve a t the adapter/air-cylinder to avoid nicks, kinks, cracks or other damage to the sleeve edge.

Cyrel ® round - Handling Recommendations

Please apply pressure only from the side during mou nting of the sleeve. Otherwise the sleeve will be squeezed a nd can be damaged.

Cyrel ® round - Handling Recommendations

The adapter/air-cylinder should have a chamfer to a ssist during mounting, otherwise mounting is nearly impossible

Cyrel ® round - Handling Recommendations

If an adapter is used it should be insured that it is fixed properly for sleeve mounting and demounting. For example, a pin-notch locking system as shown be low.

Cyrel ® round - Handling Recommendations

The compressed air flow system is critical for smoo th mounting and demounting . Main influencing factors are air pressure and flow rate

• The hole position and hole pattern on adapter/air-cylinder must provideadequate air flow under the sleeve.

• Mounting air pressure is 4 – 8 bar (58 - 116 psi) and volume of not lessthan 12 liters/sec. (0.42 cubic ft./sec.) The inner diameter air lines shouldbe not less than 6 mm. This assumes adapter/air cylinder diametertolerance of -0, +0.015 mm (-0, +0.0006 in.).

• If the mounting requires too much force, this can result in a (reversible)torsion of the sleeve.

• The surface of the adapters/air cylinders should be clean.

• The air supply should be dry and clean.

Cyrel ® round - Repeat Lengths

Available repeats are based on the Stork-System wit hincrements of 10 mm (example 340 mm, 350 mm...) .

Advantages

• Open system within the industry standard

• Cost advantages due to a limited number of necessary toolings

• Simplified communication (only type and repeat is necessary)

Options for variable print lengths (not matching 10 mm steps)Options for variable print lengths (not matching 10 mm steps)

• Gearless presses allow to shorten or elongate the repeat on press

• Vary the thickness of the polymer-layer while maintaining thestandardized inner diameter

Cyrel ® round - Repeat Lengths

Mounted on the same Stork-Adapter a Cyrel ® round Thin sleeve prints a 10 mm shorter repeat vs. a Cyrel ® round Classic sleeve

The Stork-System is based on a wall thickness of 3,125 mm

Cyrel® round Classic (wall thickness 3,17mm) is directly related to the Stork-size

Cyrel® round Thin (wall thickness 1,57mm) is indirectly related to the Stork-size

Cyrel ® round – Logistic

example for storage arearobust single sleeve box

• Requires the same conditions as the storage of plates

Cyrel ® round - Sleeve Storage

• Should be stored either vertical or horizontal in the special transport box

• No limitations regarding storage time for printed sleeves under appropriate conditions

• The rules an recommandations for cleaning of Cyrel® photopolymer plate cleaning also apply to Cyrel® round sleeves

Cyrel ® round - Sleeve Cleaning

to Cyrel® round sleeves

• We recommend a mixture of Ethanol (~90%) and Ethylacetate (max. 10%)

• For manual cleaning a brush with natural bristles should be used

• Plastic bristles tend to brittle after time and often show sharp edges

• After cleaning the sleeve should dry before storage• After cleaning the sleeve should dry before storage
