INTRODUCTION

Società Italiana Lastre S.p.A. was founded in 1961, and with

an extensive range of high quality products rapidly became

the market leader in corrugated sheet manufacture. In 1973

Società Italiana Lastre S.p.A began production of flat sheets

with the introduction of modern, technologically advanced

equipment.

With continuous manufacturing advances and improvements

in material quality, Società Italiana Lastre S.p.A is still the only

Italian company producing NT (asbestos free) corrugated fibre

cement and flat sheets which comply with the requirements

of all the European markets.

Recently, Società Italiana Lastre S.p.A has expanded the

manufacture of flat sheets primarily intended for use in the

prefabricated building industry and now offers an extensive

range of products in this sector.

Società Italiana Lastre S.p.A is proud of its reputation as a

modern manufacturer of high quality products combined with

cutting edge technological innovation. The entire workforce

from engineers to production teams is highly skilled and

trained to ensure the continuing advancement of the company

and its products. The company’s main site in northern Italy

occupies some 100,000 square metres of which nearly half

is covered factory space. The site is connected directly to the

national rail network, enabling fast and environmentally

friendly deliveries across Europe.

Società Italiana Lastre S.p.A has a policy of continuous

research and development aimed at both improving the

quality of existing products and the introduction of new

product lines.

CEMBONIT

HA HCCembonit H is one of the new generation of reinforced asbestos freeflat sheets made from silica and cement, strengthened withmineralised cellulose fibres. The sheets are non-combustible andresistant to rot, fungus and vermin attack. Cembonit H is used in manybuilding applications such as flooring and balconies in addition to itsprimary use as interior and exterior walling and cladding. CembonitHA sheets are available in light grey. Cembonit HC sheets are availablein dark grey, green, yellow, red and white. Sheets can also be paintedwith alkali resistant paints and varnishes to match particular colourrequirements. The sheets are manufactured to comply with UNI EN 12467:2002standards.

Tolerance ratios:Società Italiana Lastre manufactures non asbestos cement flat sheetsin two standard panel sizes 1200x2500 mm and 1200x3000 mm, in arange of thickness from 5 mm to 40 mm.Thanks to high precision cutting machines, Società Italiana Lastre cansupply all panel sizes up to 1200x3000 mm to special order.Tolerances guaranteed are ±2 mm (length and width), ±5mm(diagonal), ±10% (thickness) and ±0,2 mm (thickness of factory sandedsheets).

Storage and Transport:The sheets are supplied heat-shrink wrapped and stacked on pallets.Pallets must be transported covered and stored on a flat surface undercover. The sheets must be lifted vertically by two people and unwrappedcarefully. Under no circumstances should sheets be allowed to slideover each other.

ZELIPLAT

ZELIPLATZeliplat sheets are formed from a compound of cement, silica andselected mineralised cellulose fibres. The sheets are manufacturedunder pressure and cured in an autoclave. This process results in asheet with high tensile stress resistance and elasticity.Typical applications for the Zeliplat sheet include partition walls, ceilings, and exterior and interior curtain walls.

TREATMENTS

Non - asbestos fibre cement flat sheets have many different uses dueto their appearance and physical properties. Società Italiana LastreSpA can offer special factory treatments and finishes for specificapplications;

Floorings and surfaces prone to wear and tear:Abrasion resistance, anti-skid properties and surface durability can beimproved further by an innovative treatment based on the applicationof a satin effect clear varnish. This treatment is applied using rollersand cured using a UV polymerising system.Thorough waterproofing of the sheet is guaranteed, and a specifictreatment to the under side of the sheet and along the sides, removewill allow good vapour permeability. The varnish is non-toxic and suitable for contact with food, makingthis type of treatment versatile and suitable for any application.

Sheets for external and internal walling and cladding:Factory coloured or natural flat sheets perform very well when treatedwith clear UV resistant varnish. The varnish does not alter theappearance of the sheets, but provides high resistance to air bornepollutants, excellent weathering and anti yellowing properties. The finish is matt, avoiding the “glossy” effect. The sheets are easilywashable.

Coated sheets for external and internal walling and cladding:Non-asbestos fibre cement flat sheets can be coated with either anopaque colour or with a pigmented varnish that allows the texture ofthe natural cement product to show through. The sheets are treatedon the under side with a waterproof but porous product, whilst theupper side is coated with an acrylic product with either an opaque orsemi-opaque finish applied by a rolling machine. The quality of the pigments and acrylic resin make the surface highlyweather resistant with excellent anti-yellowing properties only full stop.

VENTILATEDFACADE

SYSTEM A (on timber)Fibre cement sheets are screwed onto a framework consisting ofvertical timber battens (30x70 mm minimum) fixed onto the wall bymeans of spacer fixings. The insulating layer is then fitted between thevertical battens. The depth of the ventilated section is directly relatedto the thickness of the battens. The sheets are screwed to the battensat 800 mm fixing centres.

The non-asbestos fibre cement “ventilated facade” used to protectexterior walls is not just a simple cladding, but a complex system witheach component performing a specific and critical function. Briefly, the “ventilated facade” consists of the load-bearing wall, insulatingmaterial, a ventilated air space and an external coating of non-asbestos fibre cement sheets.

SYSTEM B (Fibre cement)Fibre cement sheets are screwed onto fibre cement battens. Thebattens supporting the cladding sheets must be 12 or 15 mm thick. This system uses spacer fixings to adjust the distance of the battensfrom the wall. The cladding is then attached to the fibre cementbattens.

SYSTEM C (galvanised steel)Fibre cement sheets are screwed onto metal lathe. The load bearingstructure consists of a metal lathe fixed to the wall by a series of spacerfixings. The lathes are screwed onto the wall with fixings atapproximately 800 mm. centres. The cladding is then attached byfixing to the lathe at 800 mm. centres.
