About This GuideInterest in Cartridge World brand awareness and sustainable growth has taken on a new level of importance. To address concerns related to inconsistent packaging and in an effort to build a proper and consistent customer experience, we have implemented packaging requirements and standards across our regional platform. Part of the driving force behind consistent packaging is the importance of our customers perception of our products. A consistent buying experience is a reflection of the value of our products and it is important that we meet or exceed our customers expectations.

The changes to our packaging guidelines have been well thought out, researched and founded from real customer feedback. The effort and cost of managing standards varies according to the commitment that each of us puts towards satisfying our customer in the best way we know how. Implementation of the packaging guidelines contained in this manual will also highlight opportunities for reduction of packaging waste and costs. We have implemented this process after taking into account material and environmental factors in addition to the greater good of our franchise community and our customers.

Proactive awareness of our brand identity will be beneficial both short and long term. In many cases, adherence to the requirements through innovative effort not only ensures regional compliance but also provides an opportunity for environmental improvement, cost savings and increased sales.

We invite you to review the information contained herein as an opportunity to improve our brand image and our customers’ buying experience.

Very best regards,

Steven L. YeffaPresidentCartridge World Americas

Boxes & LabelsA fresh new look is now evident in the newly designed Cartridge World boxes and labels. Clean lines, new copy and new selling points are all recent additions to the boxes and labels. These changes were made based on focus group feedback showing that this will bring a new professionalism to our products.

As all franchisees convert over to using this professionally designed packaging, the consistent nation-wide Cartridge World customer experience will help to build brand awareness and to establish Cartridge World as the global leader in our industry.

To further enhance our environmental message, the new boxes are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified. FSC is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. The FSC logo, which is on all Cartridge World ink and laser boxes, provides a credible link between responsible production and consumption, enabling consumers and businesses to make purchasing decisions that benefit the environment. Product DisplayThe retail merchandising of ink cartridges in our stores is designed to give the customer the overall impression of our product offering without the clutter associated with displaying the entire product offering. The result is a cleaner presentation and less confusion on the part of the customer.

The available display space for ink cartridges in this plan is allocated based on sales rankings. If possible, present the top 25 cartridges, which will represent close to 60% of the top selling cartridges. The balance of the cartridges should be placed in the drawers in the front or back counter for easy access.

The basic layout is 4 rows high running the full length of the modular wall.

For more information regarding product display, please refer to the current Merchandising Plan.

Label Shipping Expectations

UPC Bar Codes and Your POS

Your POS system allows you to scan bar codes on products as you sell them. The bar codes are translated into a number, known as the Universal Product Code (UPC for short), that your POS system can recognize to uniquely identify each item. Scanning a bar code is significantly faster and more accurate than looking items up in your system. In order to scan a bar code, two things are necessary: the UPCs need to be set up in your POS system and your products need to have UPC bar codes on them. Your POS system has been upgraded to include all the Cartridge World UPC codes for the cartridges you sell. Cartridge World has developed a master item list of all inkjet and laser cartridges, known as the Global Product Master (GPM), that has standardized all the cartridge names and colors, as well as the various versions of how those cartridges are made and has assigned each a unique UPC. As new items are needed they will be automatically sent to your POS system so you should rarely have to do anything to keep your POS system up to date, other than establishing your selling price. All the CW branded cartridges that you purchase from approved vendors will include the proper UPCs for your POS system. When you purchase labels through the MRC, the box labels include UPCs that have already been loaded in your POS system. Use the bar codes. You’ll find the time to process your POS transactions is much faster, you won’t have to set up special short cuts and educate your staff on how to identify products as they are sold and you’ll find your reporting is more accurate.

There are 2 shipping time frames for labels, depending on what items you order from the MRC.

LABELS ONLY: If you order labels only, they will ship out the next day (if ordered 1. before 3 PM Eastern).

LABELS AND OTHER MRC ITEMS: If you order other items from the MRC along with your 2. labels, all items ordered will ship together in 3-5 business days.

If you have any questions please contact DPI at 800.514.2505
