CVT Newsletter ISSUE 45, May 2019 QUALITY ASSURANCE Naonal Skill Standard Authority has started skills assess- ment programs and has been cerfying standard skill qual- ificaons for employees since 2014 naonwide. By the financial support of GIZ (Gesellschaſt für Internaonale Zusammenarbeit) and SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperaon), the focal ministry, Ministry of Labour, Immigraon and Populaon is leading the mission together with other related ministries, industrial experts as well as different stakeholders from various industrial areas. During (04 – 07) February 2019, CVT Myanmar as an Assessment Center hosted 11 candidates for waing staff level 1, semi skill assessment successfully. 5 out of 11 candidates are CVT Apprences and they all passed competency level 1 assessment. New classes of Hotel and Gastronomy in New Design “At the moment I would like to emphasize the need for vocaonal training, for non-formal educaon in Burma to help all those young people who have suffered from a bad educaon. They have to be trained to earn their living. They have to have enough educaon vocaonal training to be able to set up respectable lives for them- selves” Daw Aung San Suu Kyi State Counsellor During 18 th to 22 nd March, 2019, our cabinet maker ex- pert, Mr. Josef Bucheli conducted the training of “Instal- laon Praccal Training Course” (PTC-5) to second year apprences of cabinet maker. PTC-5 training is newly de- signed praccal training course, developed in line with market needs in current furniture making industry. This training tends to focus not only on praccal training but also teamwork and coordinaon skills. CVT Myanmar is redesigning all of is training programs for all professions in line with CVT Myanmar next 5 year strategic plan. Pilong with Hotel and Gastronomy profession this year, the rest profession will follow accordingly within the next 2 years. The new design consists of foundaon course for the youth without workplace, and for the level of apprenceship with the workplace and finally the specializing courses, all three levels in modular courses. Upon compleon of all three levels, candidate will be competence as junior professional cerficaon by both Myanmar and related professional asso- ciaon in Switzerland. In the new design, there will be no limitaon on the age and English language skills but the candi- dates who are interested in the profession, are passionate and have talents are able to join the courses. CVT Myanmar is introducon apprenceship agreement to be signed between 3 pares; candidate, enterprise and the school and a share of training fees to be charged to the beneficials. Cabinet Maker Expert Mission

As opening of new classes in May every year, you can see new and fresh students are ready to start studying both theo-retical lecturers and practical courses and contributing to the brighter future of youth makes CVT feels honors. In good education, it is not only important to teach theory and practice but also personal development of students. All these together can support in making the right decision for their future life path. CVT Myanmar Graduation 2019

New Intake classes are starting for all profession

Short Vocational Training for the youths at Nget Aw San Boys’ School

CVT Myanmar in collaboration with New Humanity Myanmar has provided Welding course 2-month long training for the youths living in Nget Aw San Boys’ School at Kawt Mhu. During February and March 30 youths from the school attend-ed the training course both in basic theory and practical skills and all have successfully completed. Next, the Electrician Course for another 30 youths from the school will be provided during May to July 2019 by two CVT Certified Instructors, U Win Pyae Phyo and U Zay Yar Tun. This is the 2nd MOU between New Humanity Myanmar and CVT Myanmar providing short vocational trainings in the areas of Cabinet Making, Electrician and Welding for Nget Aw San Boys’ School in the year of 2019.

CVT Myanmar held its 16th Graduation Ceremony at Strand Hotel on 6th April 2019. His Excellency U Thein Swe, Union Min-ister of the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, His Excellency U Zaw Aye Maung, Minister for Rakhine Ethnic Affairs, Yangon Region Government, representatives from CVT Local Advisory Board, Myanmar Engineering Council, May-bank Foundation, CVT officials, CVT graduates and their parents, training partners and media attended this ceremony. Firstly H.E. U Thein Swe, Union Minister of the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population delivered opening address then U Zaw Naing, General Secretary of CVT Local Advisory Board representing CVT delivered greeting speech respective-ly. After that, the CVT awarding program started with 94 graduates of all vocational training professions, 5 trainers from Master Trainer Program, 27 graduates from YE4M Program, 12 graduates from Certified Trainer Program, 27 graduates from In Company Trainer Program, all together for 165 graduates in 2019. Finally, Daw Kyawt Kyawt Shin Tint, Managing Director of Genius Ideas & Solutions, training company of Com-mercial Assistant Profession and Ms. May Phyu Khin who graduated from Commercial Assistant Profession delivered Notes of Thanks to CVT Myanmar respectively. Then, E4Y students and some graduates from all professions entertained by group performance dance and song. Then, Lunch was served and finally CVT Graduation Ceremony ended successfully.

For school year 2019-2020, Commercial Assistant Profession held entry test for its new apprentice on 24th April 2019. Consequently 42 selected apprentic-es together with their parents, representatives from training companies made enrollment for new class which stated on 10th May 2019. Consequently, first year classes of Metal Worker Profession and Cabinet Maker Profession have also started on 8th May and 9th May 2019 respectively. For Electrician Profession, the entrance writing and verbal test were held from 22nd April to 26th April 2019. Selected 25 apprentices together with their parents, representatives from training companies made enrollment for new class which stated on 8th May 2019. A six-month “House Wiring Installa-tion Course” will open in coming August 2019. Applications are now accepted in CVT School. The program is funded by Maybank Foundation and implement-ed by CVT Myanmar. 2 new classes of Hotel and Gastronomy Profession (with new training design and curriculum) are also opening in coming July 2019.

Education for Youth (E4Y) Activity

MOU signed with Maybank Foundation

E4Y winds up its school year 2018-19 on 31st March 2019 by holding the Graduation and Awarding Ceremony. There were youths who have done their 4-year orientation level and outstanding students of 2018-19 school year proudly awarded. The performance of students made the event alive and “Teacher of the Year’’ has awarded to our Sayar U Ye` Soe Hlaing for his continuous and involvement not only in teaching, but also in different activities of E4Y. E4Y cook, Daw Aye Aye Khaing also awarded for her full attendance throughout the year. This year all E4Y graduates are going to joined CVT for higher vocational education.In summer, E4Y teachers are visiting to future students’ homes that always falls in the hottest month of the year. They visited and talked with parents and

children to know more about school and to sit for the entrance test. There are many more needy people around Yangon. As Yangon is the most populated one in the country, many internal migrants live in Yangon. E4Y serves and gives vocational education to different races, religions and minorities. The goal is to unite among diversity and to learn through practical. The first school day of 2019-2020 is on 6th May 2019 where we have placed 6 classes. The fresher (2) classes were welcomed by the senior classes. The parents and guardians visited the school premises, joined the school presentation and enrolled of their children at E4Y. The students are going to learn new subjects in E4Y; music and modern technique of agriculture in this school year.

CVT is very well established in the industry as well as in the society and offering dual vo-cational trainings successfully for young talents for many years. We, training companies appreciate CVT very much for proven concept and it is now expanding, while working with National Skill Standard Authority (NSSA) and creating opportunities for all learners in this industry. Moreover, CVT has trained our employees enabling to perform to their full potential at work through high performance with the impact on the performance of the organization through it’s people in areas such as productivity, quality assurance, level of customer service, and growth. I am a final year student of Hotel and Gastronomy class, majoring “Room Division” in CVT Myan-mar. In the class, we have been learning not only the subject’s theories and logics with real-life examples but also class group works, projects and activities with full facilities and materials. The greatest benefit of taking this class is that I have enhanced the duties and functions of organiza-tion which I can apply those in work. Moreover, I have gained more confidence than before that leads to achieve my dreams. That is why I would like to thank to every lecturers and teachers for both teaching the subjects and instructing us to walk on our right career path.

Towels Donation from Jasmine Palace Hotel On 21st March 2019, Daw Kyu Kyu Thin (Director of HR) and team from Jasmine Palace Hotel has donated 55 towels to our Hotel & Gastronomy Profession for Housekeeping Practical Training Course. CVT Myanmar would like to sin-cerely thank to Jasmine Palace Hotel for their kind support towards CVT Myanmar programs.

On 29th April 2019, Maybank Foundation’s Country Head, Mr. Abdul Malek Mohd Khair and CVT Myanmar’s CEO, Daw Khin Myat Sandar signed the Memorandum of Understanding for Maybank TLC-CVT Myanmar “Electri-cian Course (2019-2020)” which will open in August 2019. The aims of the MOU are, to support skill development for youth in Myanmar, to support poverty reduction and to help the needs of labour market in Myanmar. Maybank Foundation has been supporting this special program for young disadvantaged people to be able to get employed and CVT Myanmar has been implementing the course for 3 years in a row now.
