Course objecitves: The main objective is to introduce Environmental concepts to the young students and make them aware of the environmental issues. The idea is to motivate and train them to understand the environmental challenges in a scientific manner and to find out viable solutions. Course Overview and Learning Outcomes: Pollutant sources and control in air and water, solid waste management, noise pollution and control, cleaner production and life cycle analysis, reuse, recovery, source reduction and raw material substitution, basics of environmental impact assessment, environmental risk assessment and environmental audit, emerging technologies for sustainable environmental management, identification and evaluation of emerging environmental issues with air, water, wastewater and solid wastes. (Check this website daily for course information (Teaching Activity Section): http://web.iitd.ac.in/~arunku/ ) Course Policy (Distribution of Marks: 100 points) Minor 1 Examinations 33 (also include 5% attendance+28% exam) Minor 1 Examinations 33 (also include attendance) Major Examination 34 (also include attendance) Attendance Rule: 1. If a student’s attendance is less than 75%min in one of the modules,, the student will be awarded one grade less than the actual grade that he (she) has earned. 2. Students needing special accommodations for exams or coursework must submit letters in accordance with institute’s policy three days in advance. 3. Students are responsible for checking LMS, email mailing list daily for getting course information. 4. All medical reports should be submitted within one week of absence.
