with SQL database interrogation, then using the results to create large PivotTable based reports, accompanied by bespoke VLOOKUPS and rounding macros.

OO Programming & Software Development – Taught through modules at university along alongside Agile Development Methodologies strengthened by working in an Agile team during my contract at the SFA.

Java – Self-taught Java knowledge cemented with a foundation of C++. JavaScript – Basic but expanding JavaScript knowledge. HTML & CSS – Passionate about web design with an intermediate knowledge of HTML. Data Analysis – Database modelling and design skills, database implementation skills

Project Experience

During my contacted employment with the Skills Funding Agency, I was brought in to help with smooth implementation of their new BI Tool, Birst, and to stay on as one of the BI system administrators. Within a team of 3, I was involved with the complete project life cycle from the concept to delivery. I was in charge of the following:

Identifying the possible flaws with their chosen BI package, and produce documentation as such.

Data modelling behind the 4 regular Birst space, Development, Test, Pre-Production and Production, as well as any spaces created for specific project needs. (NCS, QAR)

Take lead in the extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) of data from the in house Data-Warehouse to Birst.

Creating hierarchies, and setting the hierarchy level to the Surrogate key on any given dimension, as well as including natural drill-downs, and allowing the tool to accommodate different grains in the FACT tables.

Targeting dimension (attribute) tables within said hierarchies to allow those attributes to be readily available.

Successfully update the model and data behind each space depending on which current data return the organisation was using.

Act as the BI consultant on a number of different projects which would be using Birst to deliver their end-user reporting.

Perform bug-fixes, performance tuning and diagnostic exercises to ensure the tool was running as well as possible.
