Professional achievements
A. Invention / development of any equipment, instrument, device,
procedure, drug development & development of any special teaching aids
or methodology etc.
I. Innovated certain tools and techniques:
1. Being a government hospital the patients admitted in the ICU are from very poor
socioeconomic status. So designed and developed a Stainless Steel Single Dilator
which could be autoclaved and reused. This was designed keeping in mind the cost of
a PCT set available in the market and affordability of the patients admitted in the ICU.
Since then PCT is performed by us free of cost
Figure 1: Truview EVO2 Laryngoscope, (Truphatek) assembled with the camera
and monitor of Fibreoptic bronchoscope (Karl Storz, Germany) and oxygen
catheter attached to flowmeter.
Figure 2: Truview EVO2 Laryngoscope, (Truphatek) converted to video
laryngoscope visualising the web of the fingers.
2. Modified the Truview EVO2 into a Video Laryngoscope and use it as an aid to
intubation and also as a teaching aid for the postgraduates. This could be done by
connecting the camera and monitor of Fibreoptic bronchoscope to the Eye piece of the
Trueview.Evo2. This was done much before Kings Vision or CMAC was launched
(Figure 1 & 2)
3. Modified the Tracklight / Light wand by connecting the wand with a cell of a torch
and replacing of the original light wand handle. This was done to reduce the overall
cost of the light wand and make it affordable to all the resident doctors and handle
difficult intubation situations
II. Development of special teaching aids or methodology:
Figure 3 & 4 showing the visually challenged children undergoing training in COLS
Converted the IRC-ISA COLS Algorithm in Brail script. Imparted COLS training to
20 Visually Challenged children in Ahmadi School for Visually Challenged in AMU.
This has been done probably for the first time in India
Figure 5: Showing Easy to learn double lumen tube placement protocol
Devised a novel way to teach the placement of DLTs that is relatively inexpensive. The
fingers of the hand has been used to simulate trachea with bifurcation as the two major
bronchi. This has been published in Anaesthesia journal, Anaesthesia 2005; 60, 294-295
Designed a teaching model / dummy for Surgical airway (cricothyroidotomy) and used
it in the difficult airway workshop to demonstrate and train the delegates
One of the Leading author in developing the COLS, BCLS, CCLS manual being used
for teaching and training IRC BCLS. This manual has received Govt. of India Copyright
Prepared a CHECK LIST for assessment of skills achieved after the BCLS course. The
checklist comprises of all the steps or sequences in BCLS algorithm that one has to
follow while performing BCLS. Total score is 16 out of which the candidate has to
achieve at least 12 (75%) to pass the test. The Check list has been implemented in the
IRC-BCLS course. This was for the first time that any method of assessment of skill
achieved was done in any National or International Basic Courses
Figure 6 & 7 Showing the ISA – Difficult Airway Manual
Core member in designing a Workshop Module and Manual for Difficult Airway
Management under the aegis of ISA (Figure 6 & 7)
Figure 8, 9 & 10 showing the 3 Algorithm
Core member in designing the Indian guidelines for teaching and training in CPR for
layperson, paramedics and medics under the aegis of ISA & IRC (COLS, BCLS, CCLS)
The Access statistics of COLS article in the website of IJA on 21.6.19 has been:

Figure 11 to 15 showing the 5 Algorithm of AIDAA
Core member for development of Indian guidelines for Airway management for adults,
Pediatrics, Obstetrics, for Extubation and airway management in Critically Ill
patient under the banner of AIDAA
Figure 16 showing the Banner of the course
Designed The Comprehensive Cardiac Arrest Resuscitation (CCAR) Course under the
aegis of AMU and INDO-US Academic Council for Trauma Collaborative (ACET) for
teaching and training the Resident doctors, practising doctors and faculties in medical
colleges. This course comprises of ABG, USG-ECO, CVP, AIRWAY, Chest-Tube
insertion targeting the 5H and 5T of Cardiac Arrest. This course deals conditions
beyond CPR
B. Authorship / Editorship / Reviewer ship of any textbook, chapter, and
Journals.

Orthopedic Surgeons, Obstericians & Gynaecologists, Paediatricians, under the aegis of
Indo – US Academic Council for Emergency and Trauma Collaboration (ACET).

Editor-In-Chief: Central Journal of ISA, www.cjisa.org. The first issue of the journal
was published in Nov’ 2016 in the ISACON Ludhiana which was within 3 months of
the assignment of responsibility. Designed the Cover page and the journal logo with a
tagline. With the effort of all the members, the journal received the ISSN no. within
a record time.

Figure 24 showing a Dialysis unit within the ICU
Submitted a proposal to MHRD in 2010 as the In-Charge of ICU for establishing an
ICU. An amount of 1.2 Cr was sanctioned. So established an ICU with all modern
facilities where most down trodden people could be treated free of cost and in addition
specialised training on critical care could be given to the resident doctors.
Subsequently established an dialysis unit in 2014 within the ICU for better outcome
Figure showing 25 to 27 the Simulation Lab & BCLS Course being conducted
