UPSC, on June 18, 2014, released the list of the marks and scores (http://upscdaf.nic.in

/DAF/csp_2013/login.php) of the Candidates, for the Prelims, Mains and Interview stage of the

Civil Services Examination, 2013. There has been a significant bounce in the prelimscut-offs. On the other hand, there was a huge fall in the Mains cut-off list. This wasmainly due to the new pattern of the examination scheme (http://upscportal.com/civilservices

/ias-planner/main) .

UPSCPORTAL (http://upscportal.com/) presents a detailed analysis of the Results and marks

for Civil Services Examination 2013.

As per the new Mains syllabus, the total marks of the Mains examination stand at 1750.The cut-offs under the 2013 Prelims and Mains examination have been decided at:

An interesting fact about the declaration of the results and marks by the UPSC isthat, the UPSC has also released the criterion for minimum requirement in eachpaper, for Prelims as well as Mains.

As per the New criterion,

Maximum Marks Minimum Passing Marks

General Studies (GS) Paper-I 100x2 = 200 30

CSAT Paper-II80x2.5 = 200

Total 400

However, the minimum eligibility criterion does not mean that getting this manymarks would get you a place in the next stage of examination. Based on the latestresults, the cut-offs for the 2013 Prelims exam stand at 241 for the GeneralCategory. This number is far more than the cut-off mark for 2012 prelims.

UPSC (http://www.upsc.gov.in/) has also announced the minimum requirement ofmarks for each subjects of the Mains examination. The criterion for different papersis as follows:

For Those Who Could Not Make It Through PrelimsDo not loose hope! You always have other better avenues available in life. If youhave another attempt left, then learn from your mistakes and come back with abetter performance. Only hard work is the key to success. You efforts would nevergo in vain.
