Custom PDF Library (Docs on CD) Search Example This PDF demonstrates the use of the JavaScript Search Object with a set of PDF files in a specific folder structure, such as a library of PDF files on a CD. The search functionality below will only work when all files, PDFs and index files, are present in their proper locations. All files and the folder structure, including this one, should have all been extracted at the same time from the “CustomSearchExample.zip” file.

In this example a section of three www.acrobatusers.com forum categories were converted into PDF. Each PDF was placed in its own folder. If this was a real forum digest each of these folders would contain several PDFs. An Index Catalog was generated for each category and for all categories. All code for this example is in the “Do Search” button. It uses the Category selection to search for the entered text within one of the index files. The search results are displayed to the user in the standard Acrobat results window. Forum Search
