CLIENT OVERVIEW “At Karachaganak we extract, process and export oil and gas through three different processing units and via a similar number of export routes. This allows KPO to be flexible and adjust to changes in gas and oil export market conditions.” PROJECT OVERVIEW “The proposed solution to the task was to implement an online Learning Management System, located in DMZ network with connection to company network domain. The project feasibility study showed that developing such a system will not benefit cost and time-wise, and the company IT department would rather find an off-the-shelf product which would fit the requirements of the task.”

OUR ROLE “Initially the search for a package was done among the commercial non-free products however, due to the customization requirements from the customer, open-source products were chosen as the priority candidates. Among open-source LMS / CMS solutions, eFront had the leading position in terms of integration to the corporate environment and licensing methods.” CHALLENGES “KPObv Training & Development Centre requested to find a technical solution for provision of online training and certified testing for all company and contractor employees. Due to wide distribution of KPO bv and contractor personnel, electronic mail and file-based solutions did not fit the purpose.”

SUCCESSES “The primary benefit of the project is that now all training courses provided by the company T&D departments can be translated into electronic format and delivered to all concerned users over company network or internet. Also all requirements for certification and tests of the Oil & Gas specific jobs are fulfilled by providing the tests online.”
