Abilene Christian University (ACU) is a private university and national leader in Christian higher education. ACU was founded in 1906 and is located in Abilene, Texas. The university is currently home to about 4600 students and 865 staff members.

CHALLENGES

Founded in January 1934, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is the most renowned university in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and recently became the first and only higher educational institution in Central Asia to join the World University Consortium.

The Centre National de la Danse (CND), the French National Dance Center, is an institution sponsored by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication which studies dance in all its aspects: promotion of shows and choreographers, dissemination of choreographic culture, artistic creation, and teaching intended for experienced students.

The CND also trains State qualified dance teachers and artist-choreographers.

CHALLENGES

The CND has a 15,000 m² building accommodating employees, students and participants and 12 dance studios. It is vital that the employees can be reached at all times no matter where they are in the building. The CND therefore had a major requirement in terms of mobility. The initial telephone installation was 100% TDM. The CND has an office at Lyon and also required a multi-site high speed solution.

City College of San Francisco (CCSF) is the largest community college in California. Every year, it accommodates 70,000 students in its 10 facilities spread throughout the city.

CHALLENGES

Elkhorn Public Schools, located on the edge of the Omaha Metro Area, is the fastest growing school district in Nebraska. Enrollment has increased by over 6% each year and new facilities are continually being added to accommodate the growing student population. The District is home to 9 elementary schools, 4 middle schools and 2 high schools that welcome a total of 7800 students.

CHALLENGES

CASE STUDY

Itasca ISD is a public school district located in Itasca, Texas. The district is home to an elementary school, a middle school and a high school, as well as a library and media center that is open to the public two days a week. Itasca ISD has 700 students, from kindergarten through grade 12, and 150 faculty members on its 3 campuses.

CHALLENGES

In 2011, Itasca ISD embarked on a 4-year plan to upgrade its telephony (phase 1), wired network (phase 2) and wireless infrastructure (phase 3). The objective: to implement an enterprise-class network with reliable and secure wireless access for students, faculty and visitors.

The university network is now fully powered over ethernet. Also, all backbone connections are now upgraded to 20 Gbps link aggregation control protocols. Their core switches are now 40 Gbps links to the DMZ, running through a firewall.

Since the implementation, the UP is now covered by 802.11n dual-channel wireless network, and will use the new 802.11ac standard in all new halls.
