2 Summary and Prerequisites This document is written for administrators (not end users) of Office 365, Skype for Business or Lync.

Interoute One Bridge may be accessed via clients for Microsoft Skype for Business and Microsoft Lync. It is common for these systems to be configured to automatically discover how to reach Interoute One Bridge. In this case calling to Interoute One Bridge will not require additional configuration and the rest of this document can be skipped.

However, some organisations may have not enabled their system for external “federation” calling, or may have it configured to block access except for those domains in a known “white list”. In these cases additional configuration is required.

This document describes what additional configuration is required to enable calling to Interoute One Bridge in these cases and is applicable to both customers of Interoute One Bridge and external organisations from which guest participants will connect.

The following information is required before proceeding:

Interoute One Bridge Domain Name (e.g. vb.example.com)1

1 The domain can be found by Interoute’s customer by logging into https://myservices.interoute.com browsing to Products -> Interoute One Bridge -> Information.

3 Microsoft Office 365 Skype for Business Online By default external calls are allowed “except for blocked domains”, so calling to Interoute One Bridge will work unless;

The domain has been blocked.

External calling has been turned off/disabled for the organisation or a specific individual.

If a firewall is blocking the call traffic.

To check or change the external calling settings in Office 365 click the link below for instructions.

Interoute One Bridge supports the below two settings in Office 365:

• “On except for blocked domains”

Or

• “On only for allowed domains”

o In this case the relevant Interoute One Bridge domain must be entered in the allowed

domains list. 3rd parties performing this configuration must be provided the domain

by Interoute’s customer (see section 2).

In both of the above cases, “Public IM connectivity” must also be ticked to support bidirectional IM/Chat

to Interoute One Bridge.

Please note that Office 356 setting changes may take up to 24 hours before they take effect.

4 Microsoft Skype for Business Server or Lync Server

4.1 Prerequisites If users can make Skype for Business or Lync calls to contacts outside of the organisation by dialling by URI (not by PSTN telephone number) then this indicates that at least one “Edge Server” role is deployed. This type of calling is termed “Federation” calling and this is supported by Interoute One Bridge.

If federation calling is not possible then this indicates that the “Edge Server” role has not been deployed and/or a policy has not been configured. Enable federation by following Microsoft Technet instructions: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn933903.aspx

and https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg520966(v=ocs.15).aspx

If automatic discovery of federated domains is enabled then calling to Interoute One Bridge will be allowed and the rest of this document can be skipped. This feature is called Discovered Partner Domain (also known as Open Enhanced Federation). Microsoft Technet instructions for enabling/disabling are here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg182550(v=ocs.15).aspx

If automatic discovery of federated domains is disabled then two settings are possible and additional configuration is required:

Allowed Partner Domain (also known as Enhanced Federation). Follow the instructions below.

Allowed Partner Server (this is not recommended but is supported).

4.2 Allowed Partner Domain (Enhanced Federation) Log into the Skype for Business or Lync control Panel.

Under “Federation and External Access” select “SIP Federated Domains” and add the Interoute One Bridge domain name to federate with. 3rd parties performing this configuration must be provided the domain by Interoute’s customer (see section 2).

Then select “Commit”.
