ACCOUNTING SERVICES INDUSTRY SNAPSHOTThe accounting services industry has grown over the past five years on the back of increasing demand from industry-specific advisory services. Revenue has increased as clients have looked to accounting firms for advice on trimming costs and becoming more competitive amid challenging economic conditions.

Technological systems have become more prevalent in the industry over the past five years, with firms investing in data analytics and cloud services to augment their advisory services. These value-added services have larger profit margins than traditional tax and audit processing.

Industry revenue is expected to increase by an annualised 2.6% over the five years through 2016-17, to reach $20.4 billion.

“I’d really like to be a forensic accountant and I chose to study

accounting at Curtin because the CPA units are specifically structured around the CPA exams, meaning I have time to prepare for the exams and stay on top

of my other coursework.

The best experience has been meeting new people. Studying in a group is much

more productive and you keep each other focused.”
