During the past 15 years, I have refereed several projects for SQU (college of science) internal grant
scheme.
I have participated at 29 local and international conferences.
I gave 10 Colloquia to college of science colleagues.
I have been engages in two projects with Metz university, Metz , France i- Pseudopotental Theory of liquid metals ii- Ga – Pb, Ga – Mn and Al – Mn liquid alloys
( 7 strong papers were published, please see list of publications )
C5. d. Focused Research Programs
C5. d. 1. In solid state research
I worked in two different points
Theory of crystallization of semiconducting material, in particular molten Selenium (Se). In this
point I tried to link the change of electrical conductivity σ (T) as a function of temperature with the
volume of growing crystals. I derived the proper relation via the percolation theory. This work was
part of my MSc degree.
The pseudopotential theory was applied to solid transition metals. I employed Ashcroft empty-core
pseudopotential but with considering the core radius rc as structural dependent parameters. In this
work we set an expression of rc as function of the nearest neighbour lattice parameters. This could
explain with reasonable accuracy the pressure induced solid-solid phase transition at low
temperature.
C5. d. 2. In the theory of one component liquid
I investigated several complicated points such as,
the transferability of pseudopotential for alkali metals (Li, Na, K, Rb, & Cs) from solid state
to liquid state,
the dimerization of sodium vapour near the critical point of liquid-vapour coexistence,
the relation between shear viscosity and surface tension of simple fluids,
the dependence of the effective hard sphere diameter on density and temperature,
the critical point parameters dependence on the potential range parameter of hard-sphere
Yukawa fluids
I set a new equation of state [EOS] for carbon C60 fluid, which was tested also for
C70 and C96 fullerene. It was found that the invented EOS works well with high accuracy,
C5. d. 3. In the theory of binary liquid mixtures and alloys
I published several Physical Review B , Physical Review E, Molecular Physics and Journal of Alloys
and Compounds. articles. The binary alloys that have been investigated are Ne-Ar, He-H2, Ne-H2, Ar-
H2, Ga-Pb, Ga-Mn and Al-Mn. For these alloys I presented,
(i) new analytical equation of state,
(ii) analytical expression of the concentration-concentration structure factor Scc(0),
(iii) I calculated the phase diagram, in particular, the binodal and spinodal curves,
(iv) I investigated the behaviour of the alloys along the miscibility gap up to the critical point,
(v) the surface tension at the Ga-rich side of Ga-Pb alloy binodal curve exhibits wetting and
prewetting transitions. I could investigate such complicated phenomena via our new equation of
state and Scc(0) expressions,

(vi) I employed the idea of non-additivity of unlike pair-potentials of binary alloys. I explained its
important role in explaining most of well-known phenomena of mixing and demixing at low
temperatures and high pressures.
C5. d. 4. The quantum effect in quantum fluids
In liquids H2, He and Ne quantum effect plays an important role in controlling the thermodynamic
properties of these fluids. I managed to obtain an analytical expression for the quantum correction
term of the free energy of these fluids. I also checked the accuracy of the equation of state with the
quantum correction term comparable to empirical results, which shows remarkably good accuracy in
comparable with the empirical thermodynamic properties.
C5. e. Research Grants
C5. e. 1. Internally Research Grants
Since 2000 till present, The SQU offered five internally funded projects. Our theory group could
get four of these grants. (two to three years duration for each project). I served as the Principal
Investigator in All four projects.

Project Title The Design of Magnetic Mirror for the Roof of Iron Factory in Sohar.
Department Earth Science department
Group 5 Final year Earth Science students
The group leader: Mr. Adel Salem Nasser Al Mugheiri ID # 92817 / 2010
Summary We designed a two dimensional net of electric wires that carries electric current.
The value of the current and the wires spacing are carefully calculated in order to
stop iron powder from escaping away from specified region. The magnetic
confinement of iron tiny grains is critically calculated by Ampere’s law of
magnetism.
Promising 1- The project has won the first price in the university science day festival in May
2014.
2- The iron factory in Suhar (Sultanate of Oman) is having environmental
pollution problem. The factory offered to finance the buying of the necessary
experimental components and measuring devices in order to complete the
refinement of this project.

A4. Citation Index and h-Index
According to Google Scholar search, shows 40 articles that have been cited from 1987 till June 2015.
The overall citation # 175 and the corresponding h-index # 7
Important Remarks
1- the Google record is more wide as it collects all articles published after 1950 while Scopus
record started from 1990 onwards. In my case Google Scholar citation record shows 39 articles
while Scopus shows 29 because Scopus does not show papers published from 1980 – 1990.
2- Normally, the theoretical research papers do not have high citations due to two main reasons
i- The extremely low number of theoreticians comparable to the huge number of
experimentalists through over the world
ii- The applicability of the theoretical research in industry is quite limited which reflects
negatively on the number of readers to each article.
