Career history:

July 2002 to date

Optilibra Ltd. Field Telecommunications Technician on BP's Schiehallion FPSO.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance of marine, telecommunications and IT electronics. Identification and elimination of failure modes in the FPSO’s IT/Telecommunications

infrastructure and developing maintenance strategies to enhance reliability and reduce costs. Administration of the IT infrastructure, setting up accounts, revising permissions etc. Improving the relationships with BP’s outsourced IT vendors to realise better cooperation,

improved services and reduced costs.

In 2005 I collaborated with a colleague to source and install a helideck motion monitoring system on the FPSO, enhancing flight safety by giving pilots and flight planners access to near real time meteorological and vessel motion data. The system allowed BP and the helicopter operator to reassess their helicopter landing criteria, realising costs savings of £50k in the first quarter of operation on helicopter flights aborted due to the FPSO’s motion.

December 1998 to July 2002

CABLE AND WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS. Operations Engineer, operation, repair and maintenance of three Ku-band satellite communications earth stations to Eutelsat and Intelsat standards.
