Major oversight responsibility for departmental educational programs, including efforts to coordinate clinical and basic science educational programs within the department, and maximize cross-fertilization among residents and graduate students

4. Course Director--Fundamentals of Immunology: Major contribution to the initiation of this

course into the NJMS and GSBS curricula. Continuing effort to further develop this course to include contemporary Clinical Immunology for medical students.

5. Cancer Markers Laboratory: Establishment of a unit within the Clinical Pathology

Laboratories at University Hospital to perform biochemical and immunological assays that detect "markers" of cancer cells, including hormones, enzymes and other natural products elaborated by tumor cells, as well as surface antigenic determinants expressed by malignant cells.

6. Graduate Program in Experimental Pathology: Major effort directed toward an overall

strengthening of the predoctoral program through vigorous student recruitment, upgrading of existing elective courses and addition of new courses.

7. Chairman, Animal Care and Use Committee (ACUC): Major oversight responsibility of the

ACUC at the time that the new guidelines mandated by the US Public Health Service and the

newly enacted amendments to the federal Animal Welfare Act for the use of animals in biomedical research needed to be implemented by the university.
