MASSIVE CLEARANCE

ON NOW AT

MILBRANDT - Ada Ethel McKen was born on February 2, 1925, the daughter of Charles and Ethel (nee Everest) McKen. Ada was born at home, during a blinding snow storm, the fourth of eight children. She attended Windsor School near Springside, where she met her soul mate Melford Milbrandt. Theirs was a courtship, marriage and love story that has lasted 84 years! Ada completed her Grade 9 and worked briefly at Buckle’s Store in Yorkton. She enjoyed working there and meeting new friends. She returned home to help on the farm as her Mother’s health was poor. On July 16, 1946, at the age of 21 years, Ada married her childhood sweetheart, Melford Milbrandt. The young couple moved into the farm house, that was about four miles north of where Ada was born, to live with his parents, Alfred and Laura Milbrandt. They shared that little house together for about a year before Alfred and Laura moved to

Springside but a bond grew during that year that lasted a lifetime. Ada and Melford had a mixed farming operation. They farmed, milked cows, shipped cream, raised turkeys, chickens, pigs and even sheep. Ada was truly a hands on farm wife - there was nothing she couldn’t do and enjoyed every minute of it. They welcomed two of their three children in that little house on the farm. Glenn was born on July 30, 1949 and Gary on April 4, 1953. They built their new house in 1959 and completed their family with the birth of their daughter, Wendy on July 20, 1960. Ada wrote that having her three children fulfilled her life. Ada loved to knit, crochet, quilt and sew. Her hands were never still and she always had a project on the go. She also loved to bake and the house always smelled of some- thing warm and tasty - especially on the days she baked bread and buns! Ada enjoyed the bus tours she and Melford took with their friends, and also made new friends on these trips. However, her favourite place was still home! Ada attended the apostolic church for over 60 years and belonged to their missionary group. The best days, as she often said, were spent babysitting her nine grandchildren. She felt lucky to have had them so near her, so she could help raise them. They filled her heart with so much joy, and she loved each one of them dearly. Ada fought cancer bravely for 17 years. Each diagnosis that came her way was faced head on, with an attitude of “Let’s just do what we have to do”. She went to sleep peacefully with Melford, Glenn, Wendy, Donna, Faith, Brad, Adam and Gregg by her side on August 21, 2015 at the age of 90 years. Ada leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 69 years, Melford of Yorkton, SK; her son, Glenn (Donna) Milbrandt of Springside, SK; daughter-in-law, Faith Milbrandt of Springside, SK; daughter, Wendy (Brad) Schmidt of Yorkton, SK; Grandchildren, Gregg (Jodi) of Estevan, SK (and their children, Katie, Randi and Cameron), Kelly of Warsaw, Indiana (and children, Michael and Luca), Chad (Nicole) of Mission, BC (and their children, Raphael, Gabriel, Finn and Raina), Kris (Shanna) of Saskatoon, SK (and their children, Aurora, Zachary and Olivia), Kurtis (Malinda) of Didsbury, AB (and their children, Madelyn, Greta and Sophie), Lindsay (David) of Swift Current, SK (and their children, Hannah, Ethan and Owen), Laura (Devon) of Saskatoon, SK, Kyle (Jana) of Yorkton, SK and Adam of Yorkton, SK; her sisters, Olive Lange and Joyce (Les) Muir; her brothers, Morris (Jean) McKen Stan (Linda) McKen as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends. TORGERSON - Alan Torgerson was born October 25, 1942 to Irene (nee Howe) and Eric Torgerson. He spent his first few years in Springside and then the family moved to the farm. His sister Lois was born 7 years later. His father was a mechanic and taught him about fixing vehicles - it was a skill he used throughout his life. The family moved to Yorkton in 1962 where Alan attended high school. In 1964 he began his 34 year career working for SaskTel; he loved his job and said he was fortunate to have such a great one. He met Hazel Robertson of Yorkton, and in July 1965 they were married. They settled in Melville where their children Shelley & Blair were born. Their neighbours and colleagues became steadfast friends - they spent many an evening playing cards and socializing. The family enjoyed camping in their tent trailer every summer and had several adventures and made many special memories traveling throughout

Canada and the the U.S. Blair started hunting with Alan at an early age - they chased geese for many years and continued to hunt together until last fall. He loved to fish, and for more than 40 years there were many trips to Jan Lake with family and close friends. Alan loved to curl and had so many entertaining stories of games at bonspiels and the great people he met curling. In 1974 Alan began his Scouting career when Blair became a Cub; Alan then became involved with the Wilderness Rendezvous Camp at Cypress Hills and was actively involved at all levels of WR for 35 years. The Scouting community at WR became a special family to him and Hazel. After the children were grown, Alan began to golf regularly and tried many different golf courses in the area. Alan was fascinated by vehicles of all kinds - he was avid reading about them, talking about them and looking at them. Most of his stories were referenced by remembering which vehicle was owned or involved at the time. Alan was thrilled to become a grandfather to five grandchildren. He loved playing with them when they were small and was interested in all they did. He laughed often at the stories of their antics - and was involved in several of them. The grandchildren relished his teasing and dessert stealing. Alan enjoyed people - he could strike up an entertaining conversation with anyone, and he loved visiting and reminiscing. He passed away peacefully in Regina on August 20, 2015 with his family at his side. They will miss his frequent laugh, his twinkling eyes and comforting presence. Alan was predeceased by his parents, Eric and Irene, his sister, Lois and his in-laws Harry and Nellie Robertson. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Hazel, his daughter Shelley (David) Kehrig of Calgary, son Blair (Tracey) of Saskatoon and grandchildren Erin, Marina and Trent Kehrig, and Ryan and Craig Torgerson, as well as many other special relatives and dear friends. In loving memory of a dear, sweet & unconditional loving

Aunt Katie, who left us 10 years ago today, Sept. 2, 2005

Th roughout your life you taught us to help anyone in need because you never know when you might be in the same boat & need help yourself. Although the line-up should have been a mile long as your heart broke under the weight of all the I.O.U’s you collected. Your faith & longing for the visitations lit the room, as bright as the band of gold that was on your fi nger. With your smile & trust of the Blessed Virgin Mary, you are with her today & forever & ever singing with the angels like you always did with the St. Mary’s choir. You left us with all your wisdom although knowing there could be vultures amongst the doves & a bright red apple for all of us to adore. Your diaries of life are cherished as you cherished your tomatoes on the vine as you are always in our prayers & in our minds.

PLAN NUMBER 3-3-361

A T T R A C T I V E THREE BEDROOM SPLIT LEVEL

The plans for this attractive three-bedroom split-level family home include an unfinished basement with space for two extra bedrooms and a private bathroom. This area could make an in-law suite or mortgage helper, or provide room for a growing family.

The entry is up five steps and through a cov-ered porch into a roomy foyer, with a coat closet to the right. Also to the right is a den, which can double as a third bed-room, and boasts an extra-deep window sill. Directly ahead is anoth-er flight of stairs that lead up to the open-plan living room, dining area and kitchen.

The living room includes a gas fireplace and flows into the din-ing area, which enjoys access through French doors to a covered patio.

The kitchen, sepa-rated from the living and dining areas by an octagonal work island, features a roomy corner pantry. The L-shaped

counter configuration will save steps for the cook.

The generous master suite overlooks the front garden from a window with an extra-deep sill. The en-suite includes a double basin that will ease the morning rush-hour, as well as a walk-in closet spacious enough to accommodate even the most fashion-conscious couple’s clothing and accessories.

A linen closet is tucked in near the entrance to the second bedroom, which looks out to the back garden. Across the corridor from a three-piece bathroom is the laundry room.

Ceilings are nine feet high through out of the main floor.

A double garage occu-pies much of the base-ment level, together with a crawlspace.

On the exterior, finish-es include horizontal sid-ing with wooden shakes accenting the bayed-out areas at the front, as well as the gables. The front door is flanked by paint-ed pilasters that support the porch.

This home measures 40 feet wide by 54 feet,

six inches deep, for a total of 1,485 square feet.

Plans for design 3-3-361 are available for $625 (set of 5), $710(set of 8) and $778 for a super set of 10. B.C. residents add 7% Prov. Sales Tax. Also add $35.00 for Priority courier charges within B.C. or $65.00 outside of B.C. Please add 5% G.S.T. or 13% H.S.T. (where applicable) to both the plan price and postage charges.

Our NEW 47TH Edition of the Home Plan Catalogue containing over 400 plans is avail-able for $15.50 (includes taxes, postage and han-dling). Make all cheque and money orders pay-able to “JENISH HOUSE DESIGN LTD” and mail to:
