Actions taken by the TR4 Task Force following the outbreak
Given the importance of TR4 for all
stakeholders, the WBF created the TR4 Task
Force (TR4TF) in December 2013, these WBF
members and partners that are plant health
experts from around the world.
During the last Summer, in response to the
LAC TR4 outbreak originated in Colombia, the
Task Force doubled the effort to pertinently
respond.

Overview of activities following the outbreak
TR4GN was conceived in 2018. Took the form
of a strategic knowledge hub and information sharing
platform by the end of 2019.
The TR4GN’s tools, promoted by the WBF Secretariat, TR4TF, FAO
‘s AGPM, IT and Communication teams, were incipient by the
time of the outbreak in mid 2019.
During the outbreak, the WBF Secretariat as well as TR4TF members
were contacted by numerous members,
partners and governments to find
ways of collaboration.
Institutional support was obtained within
FAO to accelerate the WBF processes related with TR4, including the funds that allowed to
materialize the TR4GN.

Overview of activities following the outbreakOn August 15, the TR4TF emitted a
communication on the phytosanitary alert for in Latin America and
the Caribbean, published on the WBF
website.
Given need to have quicker results, the
TR4GN was put in place through a preliminary but complete website
and mailbox ([email protected]), that now has more than
300 subscribers.
Today, the content of the website has been
widely shared and used by organizations in Latin America and
other regions of the world.
Since the emergency, several TR4TF calls
have been held and the TR4TF has grown with additional members
and support.

TR4GN documents – Process of validation
List of TR4GN documents
drafted during the summer in consultation
with the TR4TF.
The need for awareness-raising
materials and general guidance was stressed by several partners.
The content of the documents is
being extracted from all relevant
sources of information
available within and outside FAO.
The revision has been done
by the Secretariat and
the TR4 Task Force,
including FAO experts.
The idea is for this to serve as a baseline on top of all the already
created and upcoming documents by partners that will be centralised
and available on the TR4GN website.
