IAF To Conduct Biggest Combat Exercise Along Pakistan, China Borders

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is going to conduct itsbiggest ever combat exercise named GaganShakti, 2018 along Pakistan and China borders.Depending upon the order of the Air Force Chief,the Air Force will mobilise its assets in the warscenario within 48 hours of the orders.

For the first time, the indigenous Light CombatAircraft Tejas will be taking part in the exerciseand will perform both the offensive anddefensive roles.

Gobardhan Yojana' Launched To Support Farmers

The Haryana government has launchedthe 'Gobardhan Yojana' to provide for the sale oforganic manure and cow urine with an aim tobenefit farmers. A provision of Rs 11 crore hasbeen made to provide benefits of variousprojects under this scheme.

The Gobardhan Yojana would help in doublingthe income of farmers and next time, the MSPwould be given with additional benefit of 50%over the cost of production.

TN Govt Launches Mobile App Bi-Lingual 'Uzhavan' For Farmers

In a bid to use technology for farmers' benefit, TamilNadu government has come out with a mobileapplication named 'Uzhavan' (farmer) app that willaccess to nine types of services including details abouttheir crop insurance. It was launched by Chief MinisterK Palaniswami.

The app can be used by farmers to get information onfarm subsidies, book farm equipment and relatedinfrastructure and get details on their crop insurance,besides receiving weather forecast for the next fourdays. Palaniswami also launched the 'Amma Bio-Fertiliser' scheme.

Indian Overseas Bank launches IoT-based customer service app

IoT-based initiatives launched by Indian Overseas Bank: First initiative is a sound pressure level meter placed at the branch

service counter with a configured average decibel level. Wheneverthe sound at this counter crosses the average threshold, thesystem sends an alert to the branch manager as well as thedesignated official at the regional office, on a real-time basis.

Second initiative is to provided a tablet containing a webresponsive application to customers visiting the branch.Visiting customers can submit their feedback through thisapplication which also has Happy and Unhappy emoticons. Thefeedback will be monitored by a team of dedicated customerservice representatives.

Third initiative is a Missed Call Feedback system whereincustomers can give a missed call on the dedicated mobile numbersin case of grievances.

by CNBC-TV18 channel. Union Information Technologyand Electronics Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad presentedthe award to Chhattisgarh Minister Prem PrakashPandey.

Chhattisgarh was awarded for remarkable increase inbusiness and services activities in various sectors.

Rakesh Kumar Vats given additional charge of NPPA Chairman: Rakesh Kumar Vats replaces Bhupendra Singh as Chairman of

NPPA. Bhupendra Singh has been appointed as chairperson ofNational Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention underthe Cabinet Secretariat.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet had issued anorder regarding this. Rakesh Kumar Vats is an AdditionalSecretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The NPPA fixes and revises prices of controlled bulk drugs andformulations. It enforces prices and availability of themedicines in India.

It also overlooks the prices of decontrolled drugs to preventthem from hitting high levels. It also recovers the amountovercharged by manufacturers for controlled drugs fromcustomers.

Weightlifter Sathish Sivalingam Bags Third Gold For Country

Weightlifter Sathish Sivalingam won India's thirdgold medal in the ongoing 21st CommonwealthGames in Gold Coast, Australia. In the process,the 25-year-old also retained the title he won inthe event at the 2014 Games in Glasgow,Scotland with a total lift of 317 kg.

India has so far won 3 Gold, One Silver, and onebronze, and all the medals have come from theweightlifting arena.

Venkat Rahul Ragala adds 4th gold to Indias weightlifting haul at CWG

CWG 2018:

Venkat Rahul Ragala became the fourth Indianweightlifter to claim a gold medal at theongoing Commonwealth Games, coming out trumpsin a tense contest here on Saturday.

The 21-year-old Rahul, who is a CommonwealthChampionships gold-medallist, lifted a total of338kg (151kg+187kg) to finish on top.

The Indian was locked in a close battle with SamoasDon Opeloge, who ended with a total of 331kg(151kg+180kg).

The gold rush continued in weightlifting for India asPunam Yadav added a fifth to the tally with a topfinish in the 69kg category of the 21stCommonwealth Games here on Sunday.

Yadav, a bronze-medallist in the 63kg category atthe 2014 Glasgow edition, lifted a personal best of222kg (110kg+122kg) to claim the top spot ahead ofEnglands Sarah Davies, who finished with 217kg(95kg+122kg). Davies went for a 128kg lift in herfinal clean and jerk attempt in pursuit of gold butcould not complete her attempt.

Indias 16-year-old Manu Bhaker won the gold inwomens 10 air pistol while Heena Sidhu staged aremarkable recovery to secure silver at the 21stCommonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

Bhaker shot 240.9 to break the Commonwealth Gamesrecord, finishing well ahead of her senior teammateSidhu, who aggregated 234. The bronze medal went toAustralias Elena Galiabovitch who ended with 214.9.
