The Cure to World Hunger is DistributionLucy Trieshmann and Phoebe WarrenAPES
Plenty of Food
10% more food exists than is necessary to support the population (7 billion +)
Food should be measured in calories, not quantity Quantity is less important than type of food Abundance of calories, but aren’t used
intelligently Feeding of animals
Solution is Distribution
Ways to distribute: Create sustainable agriculture
Healthy soil, water, and biodiversity Lowering prices of essential foods Increasing amount of cultivatable land Fair trade products
Coffee, cocoa, sugar, tea, fruit, honey
Yes, it is possible
Possible, but not probable
Many factors preventing a solution Greed Unbalanced economies Laziness Unusable land Climate
Greed & Unbalanced Economics
“Indeed, globally the richest 20 per cent of humanity controls around 85 per cent of all wealth, whilst the poorest 20 per cent control only 1.5 per cent.”
-Ross Copeland
Climate & Unusable Land
Why is there hunger in America?
As fuel and oil prices go up, so do food prices
Foreign trade is increasing, but not improving economy. Harming American peoples. Farmers sell foreign and increase prices; less
food for Americans and higher prices
US dollar prices are dropping, affecting international foods
