Cupid

God of Love Eros, also know as Cupid, is the God of Love. In Latin, cupidere means to desire. Another name for Eros in Latin is Amor.

Eros Eros was wild and mishievous. Some say he was born at the beginning of time. Some also belive he was the son of Aphrodite and Ares. His father is sometimes said to be Vulcan.

A Great DelightEros liked to fly around and pull back arrows of desire into innocent victims. Instantly people fell in love whether they liked each other or not. Nobody could stop him even Zeus.

Apollo and Eros Apollo and Eros were great friends. When Apollo was driving around a chariot, Eros loved to follow him, for Eros loved Apollo more than any other Gods.

Psyche and Eros Eros loved Psyche. Venus was very jealous of Psyches beauty. Venus asked Eros to cast a spell on Psyche. Eros accidentally made himself fall in love with Psyche. Eros wanted to be her husband. But, Psyche was a mortal and she was forbidden to look at Eros. In the end, he and Psyche were married.

Eros all grown up. Eros asked Zeus to grant Psyche immortality. Eros and Psyche also had a child named: Voluptas (or Delight). She was very pretty and she was the goddess of pleasure.

Valentines DayEros also is associated with Valentines Day. Eros has become a symbol of Valentines Day.

The Bow. Eros bow represents the curve of the human upper lip, notice the shape where the pink arrow is pointing.
