Some information about Oman

Arabic is the official language of Oman , Most Omanis are Ibadi

Muslims, belonging to one of Islam's earliest fundamentalist

movements. Despite the modern appearance of much of Oman,

the country remains intensely traditional. In the countryside

hamlets and coastal villages. Oman has devoted a great deal of

effort to preserving its traditional arts, dance , music, and

crafts.

National Dress - Men

The national dress for Omani men is a simple, dishdasha (Thoub) , The colour most frequently worn is white, although a variety of

other colours ,Omani men wear ahead dress called kumma ,

and The muzzar is a square of finely woven woollen or cotton fabric, wrapped and folded into a turban. The khanjar (dagger) is worn in a leather sheath at the front of the body in a special belt, in a tradition which is unique to

Oman.

National Dress - Women

Omani women have very colorful costumes which vary from region to region. The main components of a woman's outfit comprise of a dress which is worn over trousers (sirwal) and the headdress, called the lihaf.

Traditional Omani Food

The Omani people are well known for their hospitality

and offers of refreshment . the most known foods in

Oman are Halwa , Harees ,and rice . The most

knowen drink is the Arabian coffee (kahwa).
