ROPEWALKS Liverpool is alive with art, music and culture and the RopeWalks is its beating heart. Bars and restaurants, world class art and film exhibitions, video and independent new media make this the cool hub of the city. Also, the concentration of 19th century warehouses and merchants houses characterises a dose of real Liverpool, with culture residing on every corner. CHINATOWN Located near the city centre’s southern edge, close to Liverpool Cathedral, Liverpool’s China Town district is home to one of the oldest Chinese communities in Europe and has a bustling community with a vibe and energy that any visitor would hope to find. Famous for its enormous Chinese Archway, it also has a superb selection of Chinese restaurants and supermarkets. ST GEORGE’S QUARTER Home to St George’s Hall, regarded as one of the finest neo-classical buildings in the world, together with the Walker Art Gallery, World Museum Liverpool and Liverpool Central Library. This area has a remarkable concentration of public buildings and was an important part of the city’s successful bid to become European Capital of Culture 2008. It is situated opposite Lime Street Station. Liverpool Central Library reopened in May 2013 following a major refurbishment. CAVERN QUARTER Encircling the world famous Mathew Street, this is a vibrant city centre area. It is the focus of Beatles history and home to Liverpool’s Wall of Pop Music Fame. The Cavern Quarter has much to offer people of all ages. Cavern Walks houses designer boutiques and its streets are buzzing, day and night with bars and live music and is recognised as one of Liverpool’s clubbing hotspots. BALTIC TRIANGLE The Baltic Triangle is an historic city central area which is enjoying a steady renaissance. It has a real mix of creative and traditional businesses mixed with drinking holes, eateries, nightlife venues and the odd gallery. Take a trip around the world famous Cains Brewery or enjoy traditional ale in the Baltic Fleet. HOPE STREET Stretching from one stunning, internationally renowned Cathedral to another, this famous Liverpool street is a ‘must see’ destination, packed full of world-class culture. Being home to two universities, hotels, bars, restaurants, the Everyman Theatre, the Unity Theatre and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic gives it a very special cultural atmosphere. The Everyman Theatre will re-open early 2014 following a major rebuilding project. WORLD HERITAGE CITY Liverpool was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2004. EXPLORE AND ENJOYWATERFRONT

Where better to start your tour of the city’s maritime heritage than Liverpool’s world famous waterfront, centrepiece of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many of Liverpool’s most iconic landmarks are here, including Albert Dock, Tate Liverpool, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and Museum of Liverpool, the ‘Three Graces’, Mersey Ferries, Liverpool Cruise Terminal and the Arena and Convention Centre at King’s Dock.

CITY CENTRE SHOPPINGHome to world class shopping, if your visit is for some retail therapy Liverpool will not disappoint. Along with every high street name, Liverpool is renowned for its designer shopping centres and select boutiques. ROPEWALKSLiverpool is alive with art, music and culture and the RopeWalks is its beating heart. Bars and restaurants, world class art and film exhibitions, video and independent new media make this the cool hub of the city. Also, the concentration of 19th century warehouses and merchants houses characterises a dose of real Liverpool, with culture residing on every corner.

CHINATOWNLocated near the city centre’s southern edge, close to Liverpool Cathedral, Liverpool’s China Town district is home to one of the oldest Chinese communities in Europe and has a bustling community with a vibe and energy that any visitor would hope to find. Famous for its enormous Chinese Archway, it also has a superb selection of Chinese restaurants and supermarkets.

ST GEORGE’S QUARTERHome to St George’s Hall, regarded as one of the finest neo-classical buildings in the world, together with the Walker Art Gallery, World Museum Liverpool and Liverpool Central Library. This area has a remarkable concentration of public buildings and was an important part of the city’s successful bid to become European Capital of Culture 2008. It is situated opposite Lime Street Station. Liverpool Central Library reopened in May 2013 following a major refurbishment.

CAVERN QUARTEREncircling the world famous Mathew Street, this is a vibrant city centre area. It is the focus of Beatles history and home to Liverpool’s Wall of Pop Music Fame. The Cavern Quarter has much to offer people of all ages. Cavern Walks houses designer boutiques and its streets are buzzing, day and night with bars and live music and is recognised as one of Liverpool’s clubbing hotspots.

BALTIC TRIANGLEThe Baltic Triangle is an historic city central area which is enjoying a steady renaissance. It has a real mix of creative and traditional businesses mixed with drinking holes, eateries, nightlife venues and the odd gallery. Take a trip around the world famous Cains Brewery or enjoy traditional ale in the Baltic Fleet.

HOPE STREETStretching from one stunning, internationally renowned Cathedral to another, this famous Liverpool street is a ‘must see’ destination, packed full of world-class culture. Being home to two universities, hotels, bars, restaurants, the Everyman Theatre, the Unity Theatre and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic gives it a very special cultural atmosphere. The Everyman Theatre will re-open early 2014 following a major rebuilding project.

WORLD HERITAGE CITY

Liverpool was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2004. There are six main areas; Pier Head, Albert Dock, Stanley Dock Conservation Area, Commercial District around Castle Street, William Brown Street - the historic cultural heart of the city and Lower Duke Street, encompassing the RopeWalks area of the city.
