arrangement.

I bought these mixed strands of CZs at last year’s Bead&Button Show. The briolettes were sold on 8-in. (20 cm) strands with spacers in between, making them perfect for bracelets. A single strand is pretty on its own, but a two-strand bracelet boasts a wider array of colors. – N.F.

1Cut a piece of beading wire (Basics, p. 77). String a briolette and seven

130 seed beads or Charlottes. Repeat until the strand is within 1 in. (2.5 cm) of the finished length, ending with a briolette.

2Repeat step 1 to make a second strand the same length as the first. As you string, compare the strands so that the briolettes have a pleasing color contrast.

3On one side, on each wire, string three 130s or Charlottes. Over both wires,

string a crimp bead, a large-hole spacer, and half of a clasp. Repeat on the other side. Check the fit, and add or remove beads if necessary. Go back through the spacer and crimp bead and tighten the wires. Crimp the crimp beads (Basics) and trim the excess wire. o

Earring options Try simple hoop earrings that maintain the delicate proportions of the

bracelet. Or, attach a briolette to an earring thread that mimics the

bracelet’s tiny gold beads.

Tips• When you select your strands of beads, twist them together to see how they look. I bought these two because I liked the top strand’s paler colors paired with the bottom strand’s darker, intense hues.

• If you want to make earrings, remove briolettes before you string the bracelet. From one end of the top strand, I took out four briolettes. From the bottom strand, I removed two pale yellow briolettes from one end and two red ones from the center.
