May 2015
Overview
• Utilities have historically used steel cores for their transmission lines, a technology that is over 100 years old. CTC’s advanced composite cores are lighter weight, incorporate additional conductive aluminum that allows for the transmission of electricity more efficiently.
• CTC received key patents between 2006 and 2007 (patents registered in over 70 countries)
• Commercial production of ACCC transmission line began in 2006 and there are now 25,000+ km being used at over 325 locations in 30 countries. Strong ACCC® brand recognition.

Challenges Facing Transmission Owners
• Sag violations and Increasing capacity requirements
• Tower replacement
• Right of Way, Community opposition
• Shortening Construction Schedules
• Meeting Environmental Goals and Access to Renewable Energy
• Increasing capacity requirements (load growth)
• Reliability Improvement – Adequate capacity in N-1 scenarios
• Cost and finance of projects
• Efficiency and losses – Impact on Generation
5/11/15
Greater Strength & Reduced Sag
Higher Ampacity Limits at Cooler Temperatures
Able to Tolerate N-1 Conditions
Increased Spans on Fewer / Shorter Structures
Proven Reliability with Reduced Line Losses
Selected as the Most Cost Effective Solution
ACCC has been installed by over 130 utilities worldwide
10 years of Installation & Operating Experience
ACCC Conductor Attributes
AEP has commissioned the largest energized reconductor project ever – for any conductor type
The project is 386 circuit Km (240 circuit miles) in length double bundled 345kV – total conductor length over 2300 Km
The transmission line is a critical link to South Texas and is so heavily loaded it cannot be taken out of service to replace the conductor in a conventional manner
Energized reconductoring with ACCC® conductor provides an immediate increase in capacity to relieve congestion without new construction
No tower replacements, minimal crossarm replacements due to corrosion – line is 30 years old
Multi-year project started in September 2012 and will complete in 2015
World’s Largest Energized Reconductor Project
AEP is one of the largest electric u3li3es in the U.S., delivering electricity to more than 5 million consumers in 11 states. The u3lity has extensive experience building extra-‐high-‐voltage 765-‐kV transmission lines and owns the na3on’s largest electricity transmission system, a nearly 62,000-‐kilometer network that includes 3,360 of 765-‐kV transmission lines, more than all other U.S. transmission systems combined
Designed Specifically to Use ACCC® Conductor
24x7 power to every Indian by 2019
• “The Prime Minister’s vision for 24/7 quality power for all depends on the transmission and distribution sector to reach the bottom of the pyramid. With the new technologies we are bringing in, we will now create an ambitious grid programme which will meet the country’s demand,” – Mr Piyush Goyal, Power Minister at 5th International Exhibition and Conference Gridtech 2015
• Country's power sector is set for $250 billion investment across different segments which includes $50 billion for T&D over next 5 years (13th Five Year Plan).
• According to Government of India’s report (draft) “Perspective Transmission Plan for Twenty Years (2014-2034)”, in view of the increasing constraint in getting Right-of-Way for transmission lines, efforts need to be put to build these corridors only with high capacity transmission lines viz. HVDC, 765kV D/c line, 400kV D/c with high capacity conductor, etc.

Co-creating Values for Indian Power Transmission Network Providers
• Grid Efficiency & Right of Way; India’s biggest T&D hurdles. ACCC acceptance helping utilities to tackle with these problems.
• Efficiency benefits; conductor loss reductions up to 35% expected thereby offering unmatched ROIs. (Reducing line losses also frees-up generation capacity that is otherwise lost)
• From 33kV to 220kV; power transmission capacity enhancements done for private utilities and customers like Tata Power, Torrent Power, Cairn Energy
• State owned transmission utilities of Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra also adopt ACCC for higher power transfer needs.
• Playing vital role in de-congestion of Delhi’s transmission lines through ACCC; selected by Powergrid Corporation of India Ltd.
• Jointly developing training programs and expert agencies for smooth deployment of the technology through skilled/semi skilled linesman.
• Distribution segment still bleeds most of the country’s aggregated T&D losses which is today at around 25% level. ACCC through its unmatched efficiency benefits can not only decongest the overloaded lower voltage lines but can significantly reduce I2R losses.
