INTRODUCTION OF SITE VISITA site visit was organized by the program director, Sr. Ang Fuey
Lin and our Construction Technology Lecturer, Miss Azrina Binti Md
Yaakob on 19th November 2015 (Thursday) to Sekyen 2A, Antara Gapi,
Hulu Selangor, Selangor. The purpose of this site visit is to give us a
basic experience on understanding the concept of construction site and
the process in it. The elements included construction process, the usage
of the construction equipment on site, different types of building
materials and technology used on site.
On the day of site visit, we are required to gather and take
attendance at Taylor’s Lakeside University before depart from the
campus at 8.00am. We were informed earlier to wear proper attire on
the site visit by wearing long pants, covered shoes and safety helmet for
safety purpose. Due to the large amount of us, we are separated into
two different buses to travel. It took around one hour journey to reach
there. Miss Azrina, whom in charged of the bus that I sat, briefed us
about the basic safety precautions before we entered the bus. As we
reached the site, we are gathered together before entering the
construction site.
Then the project manager, Mohd Sobri Bin HJ. AB. MAJID had
briefed to us about the condition of the site, the safety precautions and
topography of the site. He had also distributed the map of the site to
explain the area we are going to visit on that day and the dangerous
area that we are not allowed to enter. He explained about the
3
construction project to us.
Before we get started, we took a few of group photos. We had a lot
of construction equipment such as bulldozer, excavator, concrete mixer
truck that had learned in class. Unfortunately, we can only observe it
from outside instead of experience them by using them. Lots of
building materials can be seen at the site, for example, bricks and
blocks, steel bars, iron mesh, cement and others. We are leaded to the
part of pad foundation and introduced for the process of constructing
pad footing and the materials required.
Due to the hot weather, we are provided with some drinks after
everything get done. Before leaving, all of us shake hand and say
thanks to the program manager of the site as a respect and thankfulness.

teamwork, weather and other information given by those
professionals.

Process of Pad Footing
For pad footing, the first thing to do is as usual which is excavation.
Then, a layer of lean concrete will be poured on the excavated part.
After the concrete are done, the next step is to set up the formwork.
Place some spacer block in between of the empty space in the
formwork. Then, started to lay the reinforcement bars and transverse
rebar in it. After the bars are placed nicely, erect the information for
stump. Then, add more ties to the formwork. After everything are ready
and tidy up then it’s time to pour concrete to completely cover the
inside of formwork. Then, leave the concrete to be harden. As the
concrete get sufficient strength, the formwork are able to be removed.
By these process, pad footing are done.
1. Excavation. 2. Lean concrete and spacer block inserted.

3.Formwork. 4. Reinforcement bars, transverse bars and tiers.
5. Concrete added. 6. Formwork are removed.

Conclusion
After the site visit, I had experienced and gain a lot of knowledge
such as knowing the basic construction process, the condition of the
site and the environment. Mr. Mohd Sobri Bin HJ. AB. MAJID, the
project manager of this site, who explained every details of the site to
us. From the information that he given to us, I’m able to finish up my
report that assigned by my lecturers. Although it was a tiring day after
the site visit, but everything is worth because I gain a lot of knowledge
that I would be getting if I did not go into a construction site like this.
