CSU San Bernardino improves California’seconomy with research, education, and anentrepreneurial spirit.

• One reason the CSU succeeds in teacher educationis because its programs have strong linkages with local school districts. CSU San Bernardinomaintains partnerships with 59 school districts in San Bernardino and Riverside counties. CSU San Bernardino consistently ranks among the topCSU campuses that produce credentialed teachers.

• CSU campuses also have developed institutes tocarry out applied research on water issues, such asCSU San Bernardino’s Water Resources Institute,which develops and maintains an extensive rangeof GIS-based data related to water.

• A wide range of programs at CSU San Bernardinoaccelerate the economic impact of research andpromote entrepreneurial skills, such as the InlandEmpire Center for Entrepreneurship, the InlandEmpire Women’s Business Center, the MinorityResource Center-Entrepreneurial Training andTechnical Assistance Program and the Office ofTechnology Transfer and Commercialization. CSU San Bernardino’s Inland Empire Center forEntrepreneurship (IECE) ranks among the top 25regional universities and top 75 American universi-ties for entrepreneurs by Entrepreneur Magazine.

• The University Center for Developmental Disabilitiesis a clinical training program that provides evalua-tion, assessment, training and support for autisticchildren, their parents and siblings. It is a clinicaltraining program of the College of Education’sSpecial Education credential program and works in

cooperation with the departments of Nursing,Social Work and Psychology. The clinical programis under contract with the San Bernardino CountyRegional Center for client services.

CSU San Bernardino improves life in theInland Empire region through communityservice, arts, culture, and sports.

• CSU students and staff contribute valuableresources and time to their communities. CSU San Bernardino is particularly active in health care. More than 40 percent of the campus’ FederalWork Study students participate in communityservice activities.

• CSU campuses celebrate the cultural diversity of the state by hosting multicultural activities. At CSUSan Bernardino, California Native American CultureAwareness Week is held every September. The center also organizes the San Manuel Pow Wow.

• The CSU San Bernardino university community is a reflection of the dynamic diversity of the localregion, with a student population so diverse thatthere is no majority ethnic group on campus. CSU San Bernardino ranks among the nationalleaders for Hispanic enrollment, as well as four-year universities and colleges that award bachelor’s and master’s degrees to Hispanic students. With a full-time-equivalent enrollment of 34 percentHispanic students, CSU San Bernardino is designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of Education.
