WHAT IS CSS..?

CSS stands for Central Superior Services

The Central Superior Services Examination is

conducted every year for induction to Group 17 of

the Civil Services. All this process is monitored by

Federal Public Service Commission.

PROCESS OF RECRUITMENT

Examination is conducted annually in the last week

of February

There are two parts of Examination

1. Written Part------------ 12oo marks

2. Interview and Psychological test----300 marks

SUBJECTS’ SELECTION There are two groups of subjects

1. Compulsory Subjects-------- 600 Marks

2. Optional Subjects-------------600 Marks

Essay: (100 marks)Articulation is tested through the Essay paper.

English (Précis & Composition) : (100 marks)

A test designed to assess the candidates' ability to handle Grammatical Structures,Reading, Comprehension,Analysis,Precis Writing and Composition

a. Comprehension,

b. Expansion/Paragraph,

c. Grammar-Section,

d. Précis

Everyday Science: (100 marks)Basic knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, Physics,

Geography and General Science is tested

Current Affairs: (100 marks)Candidates will be expected to display such general knowledge of

History, Geography and Politics as is necessary to interpret current affairs.

Pakistan Affairs: (100 marks)

Paper is divided into mainly two zones: Pre-

Partition and Post-Partition

Islamiat: (100 marks)

A paper designed to examine the candidates'

knowledge of the fundamental beliefs and practices

of Islam

OPTIONAL SUBJECTS Following is the list of optional subjects. Candidates

would have to select subjects of 600 marks from thislist by not choosing subjects of more than 200 marksfrom any group mentioned in the list.

ELIGIBILITY

A candidate must be In between 21 to 28 years of

his age 0n closing date of submission of application

He must have graduation with maximum one second

division in his academic career

B. Quota system 90%

C. Breakup of quota

PREPARATION TIME

An aspirant needs 6 to 8 months for a good and mature preparation.

Determination and proper guideline is mandatory to get through theCSS examination.

NOTE:

Keep in mind that in CSS examination, success is nothing butthe combination of following mathematical expression

{(Subject selection 35%) + (Hard work 50%) + (presentation ofyour ideas in precise and unambiguous way 15%)} *{(Luck)}

But it must be remembered that

“Man is the architect of his own destiny”

And “Hard work never goes unrewarded”.
