How can you help?
“ We make a LIVING
by what we get, but we
make a LIFE by WHAT
WE MAKE ” - Winston Churchill
Every human being has the right to live in dignity and
deserves access to food, water, clothing, shelter,
safety, education, employment and healthcare.
Equipped with the proper resources, underprivileged
families have the power to become self-sufficient.
Needs are increasing and funding is becoming
harder across the country.
We care about our community! Our Philosophy
We are convinced that solid and
genuine CSR is a long term
commitment and process vs.
tactical short term donations or
events that have no sustainable
impact on the community. It also
takes continuous education and
awareness. Despite limited
resources, we can do wonders if
we challenge the way we work,
prioritize, anticipate needs and
focus on what will really make a
difference. Effective time,
coaching and commitment is
another creative way to help our
community live a more decent life.
OUR CSR PILLARSEveryone at HOLDAL is committed to perpetrating family values
and heritage, dedicating time and resources
to the 3 pillars which have become an integral part of
our company’s strategy:
To many, basic needs such as Food, Water, Shelter, Security and Health
have become a luxury. HOLDAL is devoted to combat this paradox by
partnering with various associations and NGOs that are active in the
aforementioned fields.
Saving Lives
This pillar is as diverse as the communities around us and includes
initiatives that aim to improve social care and wellbeing, fight
discrimination, promote women & children rights, and nurture
entrepreneurship. Education is at the center of this pillar.
HOLDAL is determined to promote a greener Levant and to minimize its
impact on the environment by 2020, be it through its recycling program &
awareness campaigns or through integration of green technologies in its
operations and facilities.

teamed up with CMT during the Happy Monday in partnership with Dunkin
Donuts who supplied the Group with pink glazed donuts. In addition, we
organized an awareness session for ladies, delivered by the president of
Lebanese Breast Cancer Association at our premises. And we funded the gala
of the Lebanese Breast Cancer Foundation.

Empowering Communities
HOLDAL 1st Social Community Day
On August 19th, HOLDAL organized its 1st Social Community Day at Domaine de
Taanayel, Arc En Ciel.
We had over 114 colleagues attending our annual gathering.
The main focus this year was on keeping our country Green and learning the
fundamentals of Recycling. We toured around the domain, visited the farm, dairy cow
sites and we discovered the solar panels and water rain harvester system.

Teach for Lebanon (TFL)
To eliminate educational inequality in the long run, we launched a campaign with
Kipling to kick off the Back to School season for a good cause! Kipling fans and
clients supported Teach for Lebanon (TFL) during September with the purchase of
Kipling’s signature monkey puller. All proceeds were donated to TFL.
We have been supporting TFL projects since 2013.

Christmas Bake Sale & Everyone Deserves a Christmas
Thought
Following last year’s success, CMT Bake Sale was a big success this year: we have gathered 1,655,000 LBP. This donation was offered to
the following NGOs: Bassma and Teach for Lebanon. On the same day, Arc en Ciel and Afel craftswomen exhibited and sold their items.
Following the success of previous years, we have decided to pursue “Everyone deserves a Christmas thought” initiative in the last quarter of
the year. Since 2011, we have been able to help the following NGOs: Les Restaurants du Coeur, Saint Vincent de Paul, Arc En Ciel,
Lebanese Food Bank, AFEL & Spring of Life. This year, due to the encouraging and positive donations we gathered from our colleagues, we
were able to add the following NGOs: Bassma, Dar Al Amal, Orphan Welfare Society, Himaya and Paradis d’Enfants.
We have collected 54 boxes this year, full of clothes, toys, shoes, accessories, bags, canned food and love!

Arc en Ciel, our new recycling partner
BEEATOONA (Electronic Waste)
HOLDAL Recycling Program has been running for 6 years.
This year, we launched a new partnership with Arc En Ciel to improve our recycling
of paper, plastic and aluminum.
We will be expanding our recycling list by adding organic and glass waste recycling
in the near future.
AEC: http://www.arcenciel.org/en/
We have also partnered with Beeatoona over electronic waste
recycling. Through this partnership, we will step into the right path of
becoming a Zero Waste Company soon!

HOLDAL Group is proud to have taken part - in collaboration with Fattal Group - in the Environmental Championship Program organized by Lebanon Mountain Trail Association (LMTA) and ECO Consulting. A unique summer camp! 14 children of Holdal and Fattal employees discovered the Lebanese Eco System and got to know some facts about our environment. Between July 8th and 12th, our children experimented fun activities and discovered a range of interesting facts about our hidden jewels (some regions are still preserved!) They have learned so much about our country and about waste management, recycling, up-cycling and many more…

OPPORTUNITIES
2016
2016 Key Learnings
Social ResponsibilityThe evolution of CSR strategies from the ages of greed, philanthropy, marketing and management into the age ofRESPONSIBILITY.
Every colleague should feel responsible towards his surrounding, not only at work but at home.
We should role model and influence our children/family/friends/peers to become more socially responsible towards our
community
Since we are on the right path to become a Zero Waste Company by 2020, we should put a focus on our current recycling
initiatives (at home and at work). We should also put a focus on logistics vehicles emissions, production and find eco-
friendly solutions feasible for the company and for the environment.
For our facilities, we should use eco-friendly equipment: containers, lighting…
Sustainability
Organizational Development CSR should be in the DNA and Objective of every function rather than being centralized within the CSR function.

CSR Background – Lebanon Situation (2015/2016)
2017CSR FOCUS
Given the key learning from previous years and the above
diagnostic of Lebanon current situation and needs, we need to
prioritize and focus on what will make a humble difference as a
social responsible company. This year, we will still be focusing
on:
Saving Lives & Empowering Communities: relief support
(food, water, shelter, safety), education, healthcare. Fight
discrimination, promote women and children rights
Making our Environment Greener & Cleaner: improve our
recycling program and increase colleagues awareness and
contribution
Our target community: women & children
Launch our internal funding/aid program (currently under study with HR and Management).
Decentralize the CSR process to empower each department to own its CSR project (in coordination with CSR function).
Encourage brands CSR engagement by benefiting from suppliers’ CSR funding programs.
Increase CSR awareness and engagement between colleagues by reinforcing the number of internal volunteers.
Collaborate with NGOs of various sizes and causes for reaching higher impact.
Partner with other private businesses over big-scaled programs.
Empower our own community starting with our colleagues and maintain gender equality in our working environment.
Keep up with industry innovations to enhance our sustainability program and become a zero waste company by 2020.
Become more proactive by creating new ways to support our community.
Support initiatives that call for a valid humanitarian cause rather than their marketing offerings or PR exposure which is the current trend.
