It requires time to develop an approach and we sometimes have to face up to inconsistencies and difficulties. Here are some examples of improvement initiatives that we aim to carry out in 2018 in order for us to progress :

WHAt IS CSR ?CSR stands for Corporate Social Responsibility. Since 2010, the CSR concept has been recognised on a global level thanks to the publication of the ISO 26000 standard approved by close to 100 countries worldwide. A company’s social responsibility (whether it is private or public) is to assume the impact of its decisions and corporate actions on society and the environment. The aim is to increase ethical standards, encouraging businesses to make a positive impact on the sustainable development, health and well-being of society.

WHAt RELAtIoNSHIpS Do WE HAVE WItH oUR StAKEHoLDERS ?A company cannot meet CSR expectations today without conferring with the players who play a relatively direct role in its business. Opening up their business to their stakeholders enables EUROTAB to incorporate economic, social and environmental challenges within its CSR strategy. It is a question of having a better understanding of the impact the business has on society as a whole which means that risks can be prevented and opportunities for innovation can be identified.

“Eurotab has always been at the heart of CSR without really realising it. Compressed powder tablets are extremely ecological in relation to the competition’s powdered or liquid products, whatever the

manufacturing process or volume transported. Since 2001, the group’s shareholders have made this very human project the centre of attention, favouring a constructive social dialogue and continued relations with local stakeholders. Huge efforts have been made in the safety sector. And so in 2015 we decided to

link these different sectors by structuring a CSR initiative inspired by the ISO 26000 standard. Winning the RSE Rhône Alpes « Jury Favourite » (Forse organisation) award at the end of 2015, has encouraged us

to pursue this strategy.“

WHAt IS oUR CSR StRAtEGy ?The guidelines of EUROTAB’s CSR strategy are defined by the Executive Committee and are integrated into our successive corporate projects. The latest corporate project on the agenda, « OXYGENE», will be running from 2018 to 2020.

The CSR process is then introduced into each subsidiary so that it can be adapted to the different challenges faced by each one. Our CSR strategy is based on the ISO 26000 standard. For now, we have chosen to shape our approach to CSR within the EUROTAB Operations subsidiary. This has been achieved by making a diagnosis and creating an annual action plan. This initiative now extends to the whole group and has been organised into different steps.

To work at EUROTAB is to take part in a human adventure. In fact through their commitment and skill, the staff are actually the main players in company performance, are the main bearers of the Group’s values and are the principal ambassadors regarding its partners. Our wish is to make EUROTAB an efficient, profitable and sustainable company and for that we need the most highly-skilled and motivated employees who are capable of applying the Group’s policy of excellence.

>>Intense social dialogue and transparent internal communication:

• A corporate project devised together with all staff and whose implementation is shared.

• Every year, two agreements are signed on average with union representatives in a constructive approach. 2017 saw a new agreement on flexible working hours. It gives staff and departments the power to manage their own working schedules which in turn helps to balance out work and family life.

• An in-house newspaper, « La Gazette de la pastille » is sent out 4 times a year to staff, communicating on corporate news.

>>Improving the quality of life at work :

• EUROTAB places safety at work as one of its main priorities; several actions have been undertaken in close connection with the CHSCT (committee for health, safety and working conditions) and the occupational health authorities in order to reduce the risk of accidents at work: protective equipment, safety meetings, elimination of all carcinogenic and mutagenic substances in powder manufacturing and improving the ergonomics at work stations etc. These actions have led to a dramatic reduction in the number of accidents at work

• EUROTAB Operations obtained the OHSAS 18001 certification in 2013

• Open days for employees and their families: quality of life at work is also spending time socialising with colleagues and friends and family.

>>Skills management :

• A strategy-based seminar for executives, managers and staff and union representatives to work together on the 2018-2020 company project OXYGENE.

• Broad outlines of the staff training strategy are initially defined and then each employee is dealt with individually. The training needs of each staff member are recorded at the yearly performance reviews. Managers handle group training requests. Certain training programmes may be spread out over several years.

• A skills management programme is run for group executives with annual staff reviews and events such as conferences that bring them all together. The aim is to spot talent, strengthen their skills, promote career advancement and reinforce the team spirit.

>>Promoting diversity :

• The agreement on professional equality has been put into place to try and find a better balance in the workplace, especially between men and women. Tangible actions such as making training more available and senior positions more accessible, making work stations “less physical” and even adjusting working hours have made this possible.

• We also wish to diversify our recruitment process and this approach could have an impact on access to certain positions for senior staff or people from different origins or cultures for example.

CHALLENGES

Customer satisfaction is an ongoing concern for EUROTAB. We are always looking to maintain constructive relationships with our partners both on a daily basis and in the long term. This hinges on our exacting demands for quality and service regarding our customers. We also work closely with our suppliers on product innovation projects. Finally, we respect the clear ethical rules that seem essential for us if we are to create mutually beneficial relationships with each one of our stakeholders.

FoCUS oN SoME NotEWoRtHy ACtIoNS>> Operational excellence :

• Eurotab Operations had the following certifications renewed: ISO 9001 v2015-Quality, ISO 14001 v2015-Environment, OHSAS 18001 v2007-Safety.

• We have been running the LEAN Management method, called ELAN in-house, for 4 years. Its purpose is to give the production teams a sense of responsibility, improve working conditions and make it easier for employees to solve problems themselves.

• Ensuring safety and product quality for consumers is vital. Obtaining the « BRC Consumer Products » certification for the EUROTAB Operations disinfection site in 2015 bears witness to our commitment in this field.

>> Innovation in cooperation with our suppliers :

• At EUROTAB, new product conception is led by a Purchasing/Research team who works closely with suppliers. They test products in order to limit the raw materials used, regularly visit suppliers and audit new strategic suppliers.

• Our R&D department is constantly working to limit the packaging used for our products.

• Although they are authorised by law, no CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction) substances are used in products manufactured by EUROTAB, it is our « blacklist ».

• We are endlessly working to develop rapidly biodegradable products.

• More than 90% of equipment suppliers and sub-contractors are local.

>> Fair Practice :

• EUROTAB established a group ethical charter of good business practice, offered on a variety of levels in function of the different departments. This has been set up to establish a framework of partner relations on a group scale, as is the case with the commercial relationships we have with our suppliers and customers. This ethical charter defines the rules of conduct which should guide our actions and inspire the choices we make to bring our values to life on a daily basis.

FoCUS oN SoME NotEWoRtHy ACtIoNS

>> ISO 14001 Certification :

• Since 2010, the business carried out by EUROTAB Operations has been ISO 14001 certified, which has enabled us to better manage the impact it has on the environment. This has led the company to put into place a specific system for handling waste, including sorting bins on the production lines, upgrading raw materials for other applications and giving away non-saleable tablets to associations etc.

• An action plan for reducing CO2 emissions has also been implemented following our carbon footprint assessment.

>> Eco-friendly tablets :

• EUROTAB was the first company to develop ecolabel dishwasher tablets. In addition, a “black list” has been created to prohibit the use of all harmful substances in our product formulations, over and above current regulations. We have, for example, been developing phosphate-free products for the past 10 years although regulations will only be imposed on such products from 1st January 2017 onwards.

• Our R&D department is constantly working to develop formulations based on green chemistry in order to help conserve biodiversity. Developing biodegradable formulas is an extremely important part of our research projects. The latest formulas are 98% biodegradable in14 days and reach 99% total biodegradability in 28 days.

• Our approach to designing innovative and eco-friendly packaging means that the impact on the environment is greatly reduced: up to 43% fewer cardboard boxes, boxes made from 98% recycled fibres and 100% recyclable.

>> Ecodesign initiative :

• Our company has been implementing an eco-conception initiative for several years. EUROTAB is a member of the Pôle Écoconception (Ecodesign cluster) based in Saint-Étienne but known internationally. This enables us to get involved in innovative projects in this field.

Conscious of the consequences our business has on the environment, we have implemented a reduction of environmental impact plan with the aim of reducing our ecological footprint. CHALLENGES

Our involvement in the local community is an integral part of EUROTAB’s CSR strategy. In fact we want to contribute to the social and economic development of the territories where our sites are located. By implementing this approach we are also encouraging civic behaviour among our staff. We will of course refuse to work with companies who do not respect social and environmental regulations. The following 3 examples bear witness to our commitment.

FoCUS oN SoME NotEWoRtHy ACtIoNS

>> Pegase Programme :

• Every year, EUROTAB provides funding for associations to which our employees dedicate a lot of personal time. They become defenders of their cause and when their project is selected, they are really proud. Eurotab supports many local humanitarian, sports, artistic and even environmental initiatives. Here are just a few examples: buying painting material for children in the CHU Saint-Étienne hospital, funding the training of young boules players and helping with the schooling of children in Morocco etc.

>> Promoting CSR :

• It is important to share Fair Practice and experiences in terms of sustainable development, so that they can benefit as many people as possible in society. With this in mind, we take part in several awareness programmes linked with CSR. For example in 2017, EUROTAB was nominated for a Victoires des Leaders du Capital Humain award in the «Growing Businesses « category. A testimonial of our approach to responsible purchasing was also given during a symposium organised by AFNOR in Lyon.

• EUROTAB also regularly takes part in Open Days organised by the CCI to show people around the Saint-Just Saint-Rambert production site.

• Finally, several CSR awards were won by EUROTAB : Responsible Care from the Union of Chemical Industries (“Jury’s favourite” prize 2015 ), FORSE (Rhône-Alpes “Favourite” CSR Trophy), Rhône-Alpes Buying Trophy 2017.

>> Partnerships with schools :

• Every year, we take on several students on work-study training programmes throughout the group.

• Showing our professions to good effect : as an active member of Mecaloire, Eurotab has trained several of its members to become “Ambassadors“. These “Ambassadors“ regularly present and promote their professions to secondary school students and tell them all about the company and the area in which they work in order to stimulate new career interests.

A CSR initiative is signed up for the long term and it takes time to improve all areas of sustainable development. EUROTAB is aware of how much ground it has to cover.

As with all companies, our business gives rise to environmental, social and economic consequences. We sometimes face dead ends or difficulties that force us to question which road to take next. To reduce our negative impact and optimise the positive, we have embarked on a CSR action plan in order to move in the right direction. Here we invite you to discover the areas we plan to improve on from 2017 onwards.

SoCIAL• Extend the CSR process to all subsidiaries in the group : CSR assessment and action plan to be implemented in order to develop the CSR culture,

involving all of the group’s employees.

• Develop the Quality of Working Life initiative by putting social agreements into practice : to prevent hardship, for professional equality (equality for men and women) and for a better balance

between work and family life.

• Co-create the next company project 2018-2020.

ECoNoMIC• Amplify and increase the frequency of communication on CSR to all stakeholders,

notably using Social Networks.

• Capitalize on tools like CRM (Customer Relationship Management) in order to optimise

relationships with our customers, thus better satisfying them.

• Deploy a responsible purchasing policy: train purchasing staff on CSR, provide suppliers with a CSR questionnaire and change the supplier evaluation package.
