UNDERSTANDING SUPPLY CHAIN

Tyres after manufactured are stored in the warehouse owned by the company.

Hence dispatched to various regional ware house and C&F agents

The mode of transportation adopted at this stage is through HTV

From the ware house use of htv is processed in order to supply to local godowns and distributors.

Approach towards dealers and distributors are built using ltv

Direct supply from local godowns for retail business is also witnessed ,medium being ltv

Direct purchase by the end customer ,use of ltv are very less at this stage.

Stacking pattern Since the orders vary the supply had to be in random

order the vehicles have to carry tyres of different pattern all together.

Tyres are placed vertically as well as horizontally to occupy minimum space.

Depending upon the area and order vehicles are used. For small orders three wheelers are used.

For tyre size :5.90*15(minibus)450*10(omni,6seater)185/R16,R15(sumo)215/R15,R14(tempo)165/R13(Indica)145/70(Passenger cars) for tyre of above size

3wheeler vehicles are used very often.

OBSERVATIONS It was observed that the mode of transportation by ltv

was mostly practiced in secondary stage. Among three wheelers ape3wheeler had large share

compare d to other three wheeler s like Bajaj ,Mahindra ,Atul shakti

Use of HTV &TATA 407,709 was more compared to other vehicles as orders used to be in bulk and in order to meet the need of dealers /distributors.

CONCLUSION

Through the sample survey it was observed that the ape 3w was leading among three wheelers in providing service for supply of tyre .

Among 4wheelers Tata ace was the preferred one Minidor and407 as well as 709 were also used very often

and providing a good competition to ape and Tata. In case of 407 the vehicle was not being fully utilized as

the trucks where not fully loaded, they were carrying the load same as of Tata ace .

Hence was observed that the operating cost per km of ape 3 wheeler and ape truk was lesser than the Tata ace
