CENTER STAGE MINIATURES has acquired Secret Skeleton Miniatures fantasy range, which consists of roughly 18 miniatures. Page 4.

In 2012, Center Stage Miniatures launched its first Kickstarter project, Demons & Devils. The original intent of the KS - with a small goal of only $1,000 - was to raise enough funds to put two miniatures into production. 30 days later - and $64,000 above the requested funding goal - two miniatures turned into dozens, including a massive five-headed dragon which has

proven to be the most difficult part of the project. You go with what you know, said Matt Solarz, president and CEO of Center Stage Miniatures. Then, you have to make concessions. And changes. The variables that accompany a large Kickstarter are

almost more than a small company can handle, but you make due. You make changes, and sometimes, like in this instance, you wind up behind schedule. But ultimately, the goal is for your backers to have the best quality product of which your company is capable. Although 3-4 months months behind schedule, Demons & Devils is prepared to begin shipping out to backers in July. Solarz said that preparation for the KS included months of prep work by sculptors - one in particular - who handled the bulk of the entire Kickstarter. Youve got to give Federico Genovese a whole lot of credit, Solarz said. The man sculpted an entire range of miniatures in less than a year. It took a few months longer than we had planned, but in my opinion, the final sculpts were well worth the wait. Other sculptors for the Demons & Devils KS included Patrick Keith, Tim Prow, Jason Wiebe, and Nicolas Genovese. As of this newsletter being compiled, a half-dozen volunteers are hard at work putting each of the KS miniatures into baggies to be sorted and eventually added to rewards boxes. As the packers continue to work, well begin shipping out the $5-$50 rewards packages, Solarz said. Were waiting on the module from Pacesetter Games (due mid-July) to arrive so we can begin packaging the larger rewards. ...ultimately, the goal is for your backers to have the best quality product of which your company is capable.

(CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1) and work our way back down to the $50 pledge rewards level. So well be burning the candle at both ends, so to speak, once weve got the modules in hand. All of the Demons and Devils miniatures will be available in the CSM online store once the first of the fulfillment parcels go out. Obviously, were not happy that were behind schedule, Solarz added. But now we know what to expect from a large Kickstarter. Weve made the appropriate adjustments, and we have a much better idea of how to proceed in the future. As packers continue packing the metal versions of these rewards, CSMs contract casting company is working on the extra resin pieces for those who requested primarily all resin rewards. The Fantasy Personality miniatures also continue to run low, so those are being re-stocked almost continuously. It turns out that the little miniatures - like the 25mm Guthrie Personalities - are the ones were finding it

difficult to keep in stock. So were re-ordering those relatively frequently also. Solarz encourages members of the Demons/Devils

KS to post something to the Center Stage Miniatures forums at www.centerstageminis.com once backers begin receiving their packages.

There have already been some inquiries about the continuation of the Demons/Devils range outside of Kickstarter. That has already begun, Solarz said.

Federico Genovese is now working on the remaining Demons, Daemons and Devils as featured in the Tome of Horrors Complete.

    Hes already completed a

Derghodaemon, as well as the Piscodaemon and Charonadaemon, the latter two as part of the new Tome of Horrors Complete miniatures Kickstarter. No worries there, Solarz said. There will be plenty more demons, daemons and devils in the forseeable future.

With the announcement that MegaMinis will close its doors at the end of 2013, weve arranged to pick up even more Metal Magic classic miniatures! This time, weve obtained five characters with their mounted counterparts: The Viking Lord, Dark Elf, Barbarian, Elf, and Wizard.

  • Center Stage acquires Secret Skeleton Miniatures fantasy rangeCenter Stage Miniatures has purchased the Secret Skeleton Miniatures fantasy range, both companies announced. Secret Skeleton will retain ownership of its science fiction miniatures for future projects. Weve been proud to the the exclusive online distributor of Secret Skeleton Miniatures for the past year or so, said Matt Solarz, president of Center Stage Miniatures, and now, were equally excited to add these excellent fantasy figures to our growing range of products. Along with the acquisition of approximately eighteen 28mm fantasy miniatures, the purchase included all of the concept art and sketches which Secret Skeleton had commissioned for future fantasy

    projects.

Were going to seriously examine the concept art we acquired, specifically the artwork for a range of dark elves, Solarz said. Wed like that to be a community-style project, and well be looking to our forums for input once we dive into that particular project. Some of the concept art is featured in this article (top right and bottom left).
