Of course, the payingcustomers got shafted every now and then, and after awhile we began to take their complaints seriously. Webegan to feel as if we really were responsible for thesuccessful, error-free perfect use of these machines. Idon’t think we are. I think we’re responsible forstretching them, setting them off in new directions, andkeeping fun in the house. I hope the field of computerscience never loses its sense of fun.
