Interocean Marine Services was contracted by Maersk Oil UK Ltd to complete a landmark offshore operation by disconnecting the Janice FPU from its moorings and production risers and relocating the unit to AF Decom Base, Vats, Norway for decommissioning and recycling.
Key Services:
To ensure the operation to disconnect and deliver the unit could be undertaken safely and efficiently, Interocean was contracted to undertake a comprehensive scope of work, which included:
• Marine Project Management• Marine procedures including class-approved Emergency Response Plans and SOPEP• In-depth port reviews and recommendations• Quayside mooring analysis and equipment selection• Engineering analyses and comprehensive fairlead trials for towing analysis• Management of project interfaces• Readiness surveys and site surveys• Offshore team for mooring disconnection and tow, including mariners, tow masters, mooring engineers and survey personnel• Docking Supervision• Development of Handover Document pack from Client to recycling company• Provision of Client’s Representative during decommissioning

Following the safe delivery of the FPU to the disposal facility, Interocean then managed the operation to recover all FPU moorings and their return to the UK for disposal.
Utilising a multi-disciplined expert team, the work was delivered safely and without incident, on schedule and on budget.
From commencement until completion, the project duration was approximately seven months. During the planning phase, Interocean worked closely with Maersk and had responsibility for project management of all marine and engineering work and supervised the subsequent offshore operation for disconnection and tow of the unit.
