The Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory’s
unique design has earned attention and praise
in the architectural community.
The Crystal Bridge Conservatory is 224 feet long,
70 feet in diameter, and is covered by 3,028 sections
of translucent, double-layered acrylic panels which
are utilized for reflectance and refraction on the
truss chords.
Some 2,000 varieties
of plants and a 35-foot
waterfall round out the
spectacular features of
the Conservatory.
Our team utilized AGI32 modeling software to
determine the location and positioning of the selected
LED lights. Through use of this modeling software, it
was determined that the optimal visual effects could
be achieved by placing 32 fixtures at 14 feet above the
finished floor height and spaced at 14 feet on center.
The 32 individual LED ColorReach
Powercore fixtures from Color Kinetics
were required to be rated for outdoor
use to withstand the humidity inside the
gardens.
The Crystal Bridge creates movement by implementing
an enchanting pyramid of color through a newly installed
state-of the-art lighting system.
Each LED light fixture is controlled independently.
Special effects such as strobes, chasing, and
pulsating can be achieved with the associated
control panel to correspond with specific theming
of the various events held at the Myriad Gardens.
A user-friendly engineering solution allows the
use of a laptop or tablet to make adjustments to
the interior lighting experience for special events.
From atop the suspended sky bridge, visitors can observe the
impressive expanse of flora transition from tropical wet zone to dry
zone during the day and the stunning, rich jewel tones at night fall.
