5K Fixed Supports
Fixed pipe supports will be used near the valves for the 2K, 4.5K and 6K pipes. We will use tabs welded to HGRP, G-10 brackets and SS retainers tack welded to the 50 mm pipes. Pressure is 3 bar. HGRP will move 7.5 mm relative to valves.

40/80K Support Structure
The 40K & 80K pipes will be anchored to the radiation shield on the valve end. Substantial force will be transmitted to the 40K shield (1560 lbs.) by each line due to the 20 bar internal pressure. Forces may tend to balance until the end modules. We have not analyzed the structure yet. Thoughts?

• The jumpers between the valves and various pipes will need bellows or loops to accommodate the thermal contraction (final version not shown).
• All orbital welded connections.

Cryogenic Valves & Connections
Cryogenic Valves: (4) Weka bellows sealed valves and positioners per
module. 10 mm bore, 10 mm travel. 600 mm length. Available 10 or 25 bar models. Heat leak .28 watts with thermal intercept (300 – 4k). Shown with 90 degree orbital weld elbow. ~ $9k each.

Transitions: Explosion bonded transitions used for the 40K
shield (Al – SS) & HOM’s (Ti – SS).

50mm Bellows
The 50mm (pipe ends) x ~355mm (14”) bellows will have a single braid shield to handle the 20 bar pressure and will be compressed warm ~ 32mm for the SS lines and 35mm for the Al extrusion line to compensate for contraction when cooled. We have added a inner tube on the bellows to eliminate vibrations. Should we be considering alternate bellows designs (external tube retainer, no braid, pre-pipe fixed point offsets)

Inter-module connections
• 270 mm TI HGRP - Field hand weld• (6) 50 mm SS pipes – Use fixture to align, hand
tack and orbital weld. Bellows will be pre-compressed.
• Beam line vacuum connection will use portable clean room.
• Bolted (one side) radiation shield insert, CM shield needs to extend beyond flanges on each end.
• Should all joints be aligned on one plane?
