Cutting Edges’ foundry partner has over 30 years experience in casting, heat treating and machining manganese, white iron and alloy steel parts for the mining and earthmoving industry. They have been supplying international customers with reliable and consistent products for over 15 years.

Cutting Edges wear parts are guaranteed to have reliable quality. This quality has been ensured through our foundry partner’s continuously improving QC practices, over many years.

Our main controls are with chemical, pouring, temperature, feeding and heat treatment. We conduct dye checking on each manganese casting, especially lugs and risers.

XT Blok is a composite white iron wear surface vacuum brazed to weldable mild steel backing plate, buttons, blocks and bars.

XT Blok is typically welded to the surface of mining buckets and teeth/adaptors to provide protection from severe abrasion and impact encountered in service.

The wear resistant white iron component conforms to Australian Standard AS2027 and is a CrMoCu-1521 (15%Cr 2%Mo 1%Cu) martensitic white iron alloy.

The XT Blok alloy has excellent hardenability, is produced with a minimum bulk hardness of 700 BHN and contains primary carbides of up to 1500 HV.

XT Blok is supplied in a variety of sizes and incorporates a notched backing, making it easy to cut to size and bend to offer protection on a contoured surface.

Cutting Edges manufactures a range of wear plates designed to provide superior performance and perform cost-effectively in a variety of applications and operating conditions: CC1500, CC1200 and CTC2000.

Typical applications for CC Wearplate are:

• Liner plates on mobile machines• Fixed plant liners, chutes, screens, deflector plates and cheek plates• High speed conveyor chutes, fan blades, and feeder bins

CC1500 Chromium Carbide Wearplate

The CC1500 Wearplate will outlast quenched and tempered steels by up to 12 times and white iron by up to 4 times. It maintains the efficiency of chutes, bins, hoppers, buckets and other material handling equipment because it is quickly polished by abrading materials. This produces a surface with a low coefficient of friction, which lessens the likelihood of hang-ups.

CTC2000 Tungsten Carbide Wearplate

CTC2000 is a tungsten carbide wearplate designed to provide superior performance in the most demanding conditions.

It is a modified duplex wearplate which contains significant additions (30-35%) of tungsten carbide.

CTC2000 was developed in conjunction with the OK Tedi Reliability Engineering Team, to improve wear characteristics in chutes. The new product was evaluated in closely monitored, detailed trials involving a number of alternative products. The CTC2000 delivered an increase in life of approximately 129 % over the benchmark product. In addition, operations were able to utilise a LIGHTER plate than previously used.

CC1200 Chromium Carbide Wearplate

The CC1200 wearplate complements the CC1500 wearplate.

It has different wear characteristics to CC1500, more suited to certain applications, while maintaining the same high quality standards.

Like CC1500, CC1200 wearplate is a duplex product consisting of Chromium primary carbides in a carbide bearing austenitic alloy, welded onto a shock absorbing mild steel base.

Both are produced using a submerged arc welding process that delivers a highly uniform and smooth layer that is well suited to the flow of abrasive materials.

Both CC1200 wearplate and CC1500 wearplate come in a variety of sizes and thicknesses and can be cut to shape for custom uses.
