Mapping the crowdfunding landscape in Brazil
Between Dec/11 and Dec/13, the research found 30 crowdfunding plataforms - 20 active and 10
already offline.
The analysis comprised:
Crowdfunding in Brazil
* founding date;
* reason of foundation;
* specificity/category;
* the initial investment;
* the amount of projects that were successfully financed;
* the amount passed on to users;
* the business model;
* date of shutting down (data collected for the already offline
platforms).
Observed pattern:
National players are only launched when there is a foreign successful pioneer.
In Jan/11, 2 years after KickStarter, Catarse was launched. Its founders classified it as the first Brazilian crowdfunding plataform.
