From the Principal __________________________ Dear Parents and Friends from Crossmaglen Public School,
P&C
Thank you to Rosey, Pauline, Christiana, Tania, Kate, Sam, Linda, Ky and Rom who attended the
P&C last week. It was very exciting to be able to share the planning behind our education
programs and detailing upcoming adventures for the students in our care. I also took the time
to thank the P&C for the continued positive support that enables our students to grow and
flourish.
Youth Environment Council Gathering
On Friday 20 September, our senior students (Year 3-6) will be attending the Youth
Environment Council Gathering at the National Marine Science Centre (NMSC). This day aims
to provide an opportunity for students to share current sustainable projects they are involved
in, explore projects at the NMSC with a hands on experience of marine creatures and then a
stroll along the headland to Diggers for whale watching.
Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation
This week, Rom and I will be attending professional learning with the Stephanie Alexander
Foundation - specifically targeting Growing Your Kitchen Garden Program and Cooking In Your
Kitchen Garden Program. We are both looking forward to networking with other schools who
also value child engagement in learning, increased child willingness to try new foods, improved
child knowledge, confidence and skills in relation to cooking and gardening, improved school
social environment, and increased school community connections. It really is so much more
than just a ‘gardening’ school.
Gumbaynggirr Language Lessons
Gumbaynggirr language is traditionally spoken between the Nambucca River in the south
(southern dialect) and the Clarence River in the north (northern dialect) and west past Guyra
(tablelands region). Our current teacher, Bryce, was unable to deliver our lesson last week so
he has kindly offered to have a catch up lesson later in the term. Thank you to Bryce.
Music
I was very excited to announce that we have been working with the Coffs Harbour Regional
Conservatorium to design a 10 week acoustic guitar program for our students. All students
from Kindergarten to Year 6 will participate on Mondays. Please ensure that all permission
notes are sent back to school.
The two week intensive swim program will commence in Term 4. Have a happy week.

Kids in the Kitchen_______________________________________________
Last week Kids in the Kitchen created five
delicious dishes. ● Chicken and
Chickpea Curry ● Dhal
● Naan bread ● Eton Mess ● Apricot Bar
Group One using fresh produce from the garden. The students harvested eggplant and spinach for
our curry.
Lentil Dhal was a keen favourite this week.
Kindergarten and Ms Robinson work together
to make a delicious Apricot bar.
