GLIMPSES OF GLORY
Easter is a time when we celebrate God’s great love for us. He sacrificed His only begotten Son so that we might live. There is no greater love than this. It’s the sweetest love you can ever know; it is also the most powerful love you can ever know.
When actions are motivated by love, choices are directed towards righteousness, truth, and peace. There is forgiveness, reconciliation, and a fresh start.
In John 21, Jesus asked Peter, “do you love me?” Three times He asked the question and Peter answers in the affirmative. Finally, Jesus says “feed my sheep.” We remember that Peter had denied Jesus and after the resurrection had tried to return to being a fisherman with no success. In spite of his past failures, he is still being called to be an apostle. Just one thing, “do you love me?” All past failures are forgotten and forgiven. The slate is wiped clean. You have a fresh start. Yes we all have regrets but none of them can stop us from fulfilling our destiny. Nothing else matters except “do you love me.”
He loved us enough to die for us. In response we are simply asked to love Him enough to live for Him.

April promises to be a busy month!
We are looking forward to spring
activities and spending more time
outside playing and noticing changes
in our environment. We will also be
getting ready for Easter and learning
about Jesus’ love for us.
The children will be creating Easter
decorations and props they can use to
tell the story of Easter. We will
celebrate Easter in class with some
special activities including our annual
Easter egg hunt on the playground.
After Easter, Pastor will be talking
about Creation and taking care of
God’s world during Chapel time.
April also sees us celebrating Earth
Day. We will learn about taking care of
God’s world as we recycle, reuse
materials, and plant in our reused
soda bottle containers.
Many thanks to those who
participated in the Gertrude Hawk
candy sale. We hope your family
enjoys the treats! You helped us raise
more than $1,200 for our school! Also
thank you to anyone who participated
in the Barnes & Noble Book Fair. Our
afternoon class certainly enjoyed the
class trip to Barnes and Noble. Having
the book fair was an added bonus.
Peace,
Janet Kain
As we proceed
through Lent, we
will continue to hear
stories about Jesus’
miracles and some
of the parables he
used to teach.

COG Fundraiser Cross of Glory is hosting a unique theatrical evening of two live radio plays from the 1940's as a benefit for the church. The performance is ONE NIGHT ONLY, Friday April 7, 2017 at 7:30pm. There is a suggested donation at the door of $10. The two plays are: "The Hitchhiker", a chilling piece from Orson Wells' Mercury Theater, the people who gave us chills with "The War of the Worlds"! The second piece is an hilarious comedy from "The Fibber McGee and Molly Show" called 'Fibber Meets a Racketeer'. The plays will have sound effects performed live by foley artists: You'll see the rain, the door slams, the foot steps, the punches and slaps, all of the sound needed to help tell the story created as the story unfolds. There will also be live music performed during the intermission and post show. Coffee and desserts will also be available as refreshments for this family friendly evening. You are invited to close your eyes at any point during the plays and let yourself be transported to the analog and escape the digital age! The characters will be voiced by: Duane Noch, Michael Burgi, Paula Eisenberg, and Laurie Noch. The music will be performed by the group 'Fathers of Daughters': Bill Brown, Michael Burgi, John Maloney, and Tom Downey, with additional music by Andrea Rieman.
Foley sound will be performed by Colin Noch and Lucas Daniels.
Annual Pig Roast Join us for Cross of Glory’s 5th Annual Pig Roast on Friday, April 21st in Fellowship Hall from 5:30-8:00pm. Bishop Eaton introduces Leadership Initiative ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton reminds us, “It’s not only the job of our seminaries and universities to identify and raise up leaders in the church. This si something that belongs to all of us.” The Leadership Initiative encourages all of us to seek out and inspire gifted people in our congregations and communities to consider a call to the ministry of the gospel. If you know someone who shows a gift for ministry, help mentor and foster them. Together—pastors, deacons, lay people—we can bring the word of God to the world.
Immigration Task Group Goals & History The current goals of the Immigration Task Force are two-fold: First, to communicate trustworthy information about immigrants and refugees for fellow Lutherans in our synod, with the assumption that many Lutherans are sincerely worried about safety, danger and the well-being of the U.S. Second, we want to provide for those who already desire to advocate for immigrants and refugees—particularly in peace-oriented ways that bear a Christian witness. To read more, visit http://www.njsynod.org/immigration
People’s Climate Movement Saturday, April 29th Join the People’s Climate Movement in Washington, DC and across the country to stand up for our communities, our climate, and our lives. Additional children/youth in a party ride free. To reserve seats contact Eleanor Dill, St. Mark Green Team 856-858-1844.
Rick Steves’ Luther and the Reformation Rick Steves, travel guide and host of Rick Steves' Europe, has created a documentary "Luther and the Reformation."It's available to watch by visiting http://elca.org/ricksteves, along with resources for hosting congregational screenings of the film, including ELCA discussion points and study questions, a special introductory video from Steves, and art and video clips to promote your event. DVD copies of the special have also been sent to every ELCA congregation.
